I'm painfully shy and honestly can only comfortably make eye contact with a few people in my life. I try to work on it, but you know... Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only young person like that, so I'd imagine that could play a part in it.

Stay positive and relax, nobody likes a Whiner
I to find it hard to make friends, but doesn't mean you should try
A good positive attitude goes a long way

Who was whining?

Nothing personal just a general observation

But I wasn't whining. I was asking a question. This is whining:

Why am I so superior to everyone else? People can't even look at me in the eye! Other people are SO pathetic...

Why the heck do you want to find out someone's eye color? How on earth is that relevant to every day conversations?

Sometimes people have the coolest eyes but you can't quite tell what color they are. It's OK to ask. Sometimes they'll make their eyes super big for you, which is good for laughs. :)

Hey Miles: for me, prolonged eye contact is a gesture of intimacy, so it doesn't always feel right or comfortable for me to look at someone closely for too long. I still struggle with this a little, even with Brian. I'd feel the same way about standing too close to a person I didn't feel a close connection to. It's not so much an insecurity as it is a physical boundaries thing. Hope that helps a little.

When I was at Prayer & Action, this girl said I had really beautiful eyes, because they're emerald on the outer edge and orange in the middle.

Hm... That's interesting. I've never thought about it that way before.
