Apotheoun
It is interesting that Eastern Catholics (Ruthenians, Melkites, Ukrainians, etc.) still get shocked when weird things happen in their parishes; while Roman Catholics just accept the bizarre things that occur in their Churches as a part of every day life. It reminds me of a thread I posted a couple of weeks ago: LITURGICAL DANCE DURING EASTER VIGIL MASS AT A PARISH IN BERKELEY
arfink
You mistake our Western lack of surprise for acceptance I think. We are also capable of pious outrage. ;)

We are also capable of pious outrage. ;) I have seen pious outrage, but alas it normally has no impact on the strange happenings in Western parishes. I was at least happy that the Papal Liturgy at the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida in Brazil was toned down from its normal strangeness (e.g., no circus music, or giant floats and puppets). The following video was posted on my Facebook timeline by an Orthodox friend several months ago. He had a hard time believing that the Catholics "worshipping" at the second largest basilica in the world actually take the liturgy seriously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxfO7a7_bWs
