Poorly Catechized Convert

Actually for someone who is suffering from scrupilocity it would be the wrong thing to do.

Making a General Confession is never a wrong thing to do.

Wrong, it should be done rarely and when necessary; and only after seeking the advice of the confessor/spiritual director.

You're wrong!  I'm not saying to do one every week; I think it would be especially good for a convert considering how many mortal sins they have committed without going to confession.

If you don't confess a Mortal Sin on purpose to the priest because you are afraid or embarrassed then you make that confession Invalid. This is the teaching of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church says that you must confess all your Mortal Sins again from your Invalid confession even the Mortal Sins that you confessed.

Also you must tell the priest that you did not confess all your Mortal Sins from your Invalid confession. By not confessing all your Mortal Sins on purpose you also committed a sin of sacrilege. By not going back to confession and confessing all your Mortal Sins  then every confession after that will be Invalid.  If need be ask a conservative Catholic priest for advice. Liberal Catholic priest sometimes don't follow the teaching of the Catholic Church. See also the following website
