Sister Maria Kolbe rocks.

DOESN'T SHE THOUGH

She's the best. I think it might be her red hair that makes her awesome.

Re: the DSMMES, only 9 2nd year novices - wow, as I recall that class had 22.  Just goes to show, discernment is a difficult process and, no matter how much you think you're called to religious life, your plans are not the ones that matter.  That does kind of scare me.

The Nashies have a bit better retention rate.   :like:  Regardless, what the seminarians always tell me when I ask how discernment is going is that they don't know if they're called to be a priest: they know they're called to be there in seminary right now, and the rest will follow if it's God's will. Same applies for religious life.

Deus_te_Amat joined the Nashville Dominicans, right?  I have a friend who joined the ND's last year too, and I found out from her mom that she received the habit last weekend, so that would go for DTA also. :)

The Nashies do have a much higher retention rate at all levels - postulants, novices and Junior Professed. I wonder why that is?

Right! That is great, I shall now go stalk their website for pictures/more info. Thanks for the update!

From the DSMME fb page: "Here is one of the last 'before' pictures of the Postulants of 2012-2013!! See their joy as they are SO READY to receive their religious names and holy Dominican habits!!"
