I voted null on this one as I am between the two options...Yes it is OK, but it also depends on the situation as to whether I believe it is socially acceptable and SHOULD be done. A tie socially in the West is a Male accoutrement when women wear these in more formal setting I dislike it. I HATE going to a nice restaurant and my waitress is wearing a bowtie...ugh NO. On the other hand a tie can be worn quite playfully by women and that can be fine. I had a sister who would sometimes wear a tie to school and such which I found to be just fine with me.

In short I guess the higher the level of formality or importance the less appropriate a tie becomes. Just like men wear non-bifurcated garments.

Ties in the picture you posted can be cute. But I don't understand why the only options are "It's odd (but I like it)" or "Eww no." Paraphrased... why can't someone just like it?

I am sorry. You're right, bowties are cool.
