maximillion
I still miss my companion animals who have died even though I have a lovely cuddly cat at the moment. Thinking about all of us who are sad because we have lost one of our dear companion animals and friends, no matter how big or small.......

Era Might
I watched my cat put to sleep. It's the only time I've ever witnessed a death. Very strange experience.
Tufsoles
Yeah, My guinea pig died a week ago and I am sad that he is not here to cry for food or snuggle with me. He made sure I got things done his way. I miss that. He loved his romaine lettuce and Timithoy hay. I also miss him trying to eat my salad and I have to put it up high so he wouldn't eat it. Salad Dress is no good for him.
IgnatiusofLoyola
I had to have my beloved 17-year old cat put to sleep the day after Memorial Day. I was in tears. Unfortunately, the price we pay for loving one of God's wonderful creations is that sooner or later we will lose our friend. But, it was worth it. 17 years is a long time, and Leo (my late cat) saw me through lots of struggles and tears. Unconditional love and pure trust (which I didn't really deserve) are very hard to find it the world, and my cat was a haven of love in a life that has been very difficult for me for the past several years. The house seems much quieter without my buddy Leo. I still have my little girl cat, and she misses Leo a lot. Since Leo's death, my little girl cat spends almost all her time snuggled up next to me. I probably will get a second cat at some point, but not yet. I want to try to find the right companion for my little girl cat, so I will take my time and choose carefully. tinytherese
My cat died almost two years ago while I was away at college in another state. She didn't even appear to be sick when I headed back for a new semester. Before she died though, I had a feeling that her time was limited and when I held her goodbye before I left I had a feeling that I might not see her again. I got a call from my mom that she died. She had recently started to show signs of illness that weren't apparent earlier. My mom didn't want to worry me in case she really did get better, so it wasn't until she died that I was told. My grandma and uncle got a new cat for my brother, but overtime she became naughty. My brother was also disappointed that he didn't get to pick out his cat. She growls when you try to pick her up and when you try to pet her or massage the sides of her face or under her mouth she swats at you with her paws or bites. She's not a cuddler either which is a big contrast to my baby who would cuddle, let you pick her up, and let you pet and massage her. This new cat doesn't even like to be brushed. I still miss my baby. I wish that my brother could've been the one to pick his own cat and one that wasn't like the one he has now. Mom says that knowing him he wouldn't have picked out the one we have now.
TheresaThoma
Its hard, I had to put down my kitty just over a month ago. She had pancreatic cancer which there is no treatment for. She was very closely bonded to me and if she couldn't find me in the house she would start yowling until I called to her. House is definitely a little emptier even with our other two cats around (and Sr Kelvin the turtle). It was hard but I at least was there and I didn't have to make the hard decision of whether to leave her with my mom when I move out or put her through the stress of taking her with me.
