Apotheoun
Whoa! Seriously -- why be Catholic if you aren't happy that we don't allow women to be priests? Go to one of the other religions where they "ordain" women ministers. I can't stand people who stay in the Church only to try to make it the way they want it. Christ's bride doesn't change. Even Jesus said: I say to you that you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. -- Matthew 16:18 For real, I looked up this parish website and I wondered if they were one of those "inclusive catholic communities" where they ordain women but I was surprised to see that they are listed on the diocesan website for Oakland. The parish is run by the Paulist Fathers (CSP). Another thing that worried me is another of Newman Hall's ministries called "Women in Conversation." I clicked on the link half expecting to see that they were a group that talks about women in the priesthood. http://calnewman.org/community-life/women-in-conversation/ Newman Hall / Holy Spirit parish is fairly typical for a parish in the Diocese of Oakland. In fact a lot of what goes on in parishes in the Oakland area reminds me of my youth in a mainline Protestant community during the 1970s.

Yeah, I did some research and found that at least 4 other parishes employ the use of liturgical dance. I also spotted a picture of a liturgical dancer carrying an incense bowl on the diocesan main page. http://www.oakdiocese.org/homeimageslider/incensedance/@@images/captionimage/homepage Edited July 21, 2013 by MaterMisericordiae
CatherineM
It's not that we don't allow women to be ordained. Jesus didn't choose women for ordination. Instead of complaining about us, why don't they take it up with Jesus?

I'm tired of hearing all these angry women complain about how the "misogynists" in the Church are preventing them from fulfilling their rights as Catholics. The moment you start talking about ordination as a right, that's where things go sour. It's not a right, it's a privilege and no one is entitled to it. Somehow, these women start thinking they are treated as inferior and try to change the rules only you can't change what God sets for His Church. ;) Edited July 21, 2013 by MaterMisericordiae

This is why I always try to explain Catholic teaching more from an educational than personal position - I always have to throw out that reminder that while I believe these teachings, I'm the messenger, not the one who made the message. OnlySunshine
From an article written this past June: "Women have a right to be ordained. It’s not just a man’s game." Presley's husband William "Scott" Presley told WJLA. Of course, it's the Huffington Post. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/25/virginia-women-ordained-catholic-priests_n_3497256.html
HisChildForever
I just watched the video, well I skipped through a lot. Probably one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
Little Flower
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh_nqtp3VrU&feature=player_embedded I found this even more horrifying. First of all they use puppets to dance. It seems that the entire congregation says the words of consecration. And then at the end of Mass, the priest says "May we all bless ourselves in the name of the creator, redeemer, and sanctifier" AHH!!!!

I couldn't even get through the first minute. Those people ought to be ashamed of themselves for destroying the Mass and making it into a performance (and a poor one at that). That lady dancing around looked so ridiculous.

Apteka
Wow, pretty lame stuff! But why is this bad from a Catholic standpoint?
