I'm just wondering if such an order exists :)

contemplative, focused on offering reparation to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, - cloistered or not, and maybe with the Latin Mass? if not with the Latin Mass, do similar orders exist with the OF?

Just wondering! :)

Kayte Postle

Children of Mary

They are contemplative, not cloistered though. Their have a great devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and live to have Him loved and known in the Eucharist. They have latin mass once a month or so, but often have the NO mass in latin.

Many of the Dominican monasteries include perpetual adoration (and some are also perpetual rosary monasteries).  Some are more traditional than others.

The Sisters of Perpetual Adoration are a lovely community.  They came up with the Cristo Rey Carmelite Nuns from Mexico during the Cristero persecutions in the 1920's.

I am not sure about the EF, but I know they have very devout OF liturgies, and the San Francisco community is very traditional in the orientation.  They are not as austere as the Carmelites, probably more like the Pink Sisters in lifestyle.  But these sisters wear white with a red scapular!  And... they have three blood-sisters in that monastery!!!!

Here is an article that was in our local diocesan newspaper:

The chapel here in San Francisco is VERY tiny , and I don't think there are as many Sisters as in the big photo of them in the main chapel any longer... but they have a very beautiful lifestyle.  They have full enclosure; their grilled area is behind the lay people's area of the chapel, and they only come into the main chapel when lay persons are not there.   (They have an 'adoration window' closer to the monstrance in their chapel, but the sister moves out of sight if lay people are present.)

Here is the website of the SF Community; some parts appear to be more functional than others.

Sister Disciples of the Divine Master are very focused on Eucharistic Adoration.  I'm not sure if they offer the Latin Mass, though.

Trinitarians of Mary are also a good order to look into.  They are very devoted to praying for the priesthood and Eucharistic Adoration.  Their spirituality is very Carmelite.

Neat! I had only ever heard of the AK one there. They also have a monastery in Sioux Falls, SD, a more recent foundation from Mexico ~ http://www.perpetualadorationsisters.com/

Also Sister Adorers of the Royal Heart of JesusHere is a bit more information on them, and they do have the latin mass!

They seem to be the closest to what MarysLittleFlower is looking for (whatever is God's will though) It says on the second link there that their formation is in France, but now they're in Gricigliano, Italy. I don't believe they have houses outside that location currently, but I'm just guessing. They tried St. Louis but it didn't work out.. for now at least.

I hope this is not a repeat of a message that did not seem to go through [PM is like molasses in January today]

The main website of the community, in French, is http://www.icrsp.org/Adoratrices/Adoratrices.htm

They have two foundations, one in Switzerland and the other in Germany, but both are very new.  They are associated with a seminary for the priesthood, contemplative but not cloistered, and their ultimate charism is to create and repair vestments and other linens needed for the Church.  Right now I think most of their energies are directed at formation and the renovation of their motherhouse and new foundation buildings, which they obtained in pretty much derelict condition.  The novitiate is very long, which I understand is not uncommon in new orders.

From what I know of them, they combine a high level of esthetics with spirituality, which I find very attractive.  At least one sister is American.

The sisters of PA sounds like a wonderful community! (If only I was younger) I am just not drawn to higher education/academic driven communities! I struggled in school... I wasn't the best student! I am not a brainiac! To me.. the Dominicans are (have always been) the "teaching" order! I don't want to have to have a certificate, degree, a PhD in order to adore our Lord! Of course if I were to enter a mainly Hispanic community and learning Spanish was required and or needed FINE! I would be more than happy to learn a second language... A d also to play the flute! Are their any communities that let their sisters learn how to play a musical instrument ?? (other than chanting)

Nikita, if you were indicating you might be interested in the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, here is some more info.  Last I heard the San Francisco community did NOT have an upper age limit (although I am NOT sure)... and it may vary from monastery to monastery.

Regarding the Anchorage community, their website isn't working any more but here is a video.... which indicates they are down to three sisters... but see bottom of this post -- 6 new sisters are coming from one of the Mexican Houses... and it sounds as if the Bishop is VERY interested in keeping them....

The ones in SF are very beautiful and prayerful.  They do NOT have an external ministry, and they are not as austere as the Carmelites, but they do have a beautiful adoration vocation.   They follow the Rule of St. Augustine I believe.

EDIT:  Not sure why this ^^ isn't posting as a video, but the link works on youtube....

Feb 2010 Article on them from the Anchorage Catholic newspaper....

Dec 2012 Article on them from the Anchorage Catholic Newspaper -- 6 new sisters to join them!

http://www.catholicanchor.org/wordpress/archives/8750

In a Dec. 10 letter announcing the decision to Anchorage Archbishop Roger Schwietz, Sister Alma Ruth Vargas, of the Monastery of Perpetual Adoration in San Francisco, Calif., said the six arriving sisters will come from the order’s monastery in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. They will arrive, in mid-January along with two superiors from the order and Sister Vargas to discuss the future ministry of the monastery with Archbishop Schwietz.

“We are very excited that the Anchorage community will soon be supported by the arrival of six additional sisters,” Sister Vargas wrote to Archbishop Schwietz, “and we are all looking forward to meeting with you in January to discuss this wonderful development.”

Mother Rosealba in the San Francisco monastery is just a lovely person.  If any of you even remotely might be interested, I am sure she or the nuns in Anchorage would love to hear from you!

And Chiqui -- didn't know about the South Dakota foundation!!!!!  Exciting!

The Anchorage Perpetual Adoration Sisters website is now down... but I was able to locate an archived version.

Note that this dates from about 5 years ago, so some things could changed... but they state their vocation requirements at that time very clearly... including no upper age stated....

Antigongos, I meant to reply to this earlier. Thank you so much for sharing what you have learned about them here! I had no idea they had houses in Germany and Switzerland too. I have seen in several places online, that several of the sisters are Americans, including the new Novices. I remember reading that at least two of them (the new Novices) were :like:

Thanks again!
