Purchasing A Bed That Is Both Comfortable And Affordable (subcategory:

I'm in the process of considering purchasing a new bed.  A friend directed me to this site:

http://www.hotmalm.com/

But she has a weird IKEA fixation  :hehe2:

Any other suggestions?

Also, what exactly is the difference between a malm and a bed?  I'd google it but I recently broke both my hands and therefore can't type.

A bed is a wooden or metal frame which, when combined with the appropriate support, can provide a good night's sleep. The bed may or may not be made of quality materials, but overall, it does its job. If you buy a decent mid-range brand, the bed could last you for many years, even your whole life!

A MALM consists of pieces of particle board manufactured by Chinese wage slaves for IKEA. You will put the pieces of particle board together yourself. This will take 10 hours. Afterward, if you did it right, the MALM will resemble (at least in shape) the bed described above. The MALM will last 9-12 months and then turn to crap.

These are the main differences between a bed and a MALM.

Hey now, I bought the Hemnes frame and a memory foam mattress from IKEA two years ago. Best bed ever! It is made of solid wood and is soooo comfy. IKEA is awesome! I recommend it.

(Of course, my husband put it together  :hehe2: )

Dear Maggie,

Thank you for your thoughtful and informative post!  I think that at this stage in my life it would make the most sense to purchase a bed since it would be difficult to assemble a MALM with two broken hands.  Had I friends I suppose that I could solicit them for help but, alas, I don't.  I'm just a young man alone in a dark apartment with two broken hands, fighting back tears of loneliness as I peck out this reply with my nose.  Therefore, I will purchase a bed.

Thank you again for your words of wisdom!

Hasan, we care about you. You can tell us what really happened.

Did Finfester break them because you are better looking and s/he was trying to bring you down to his/her uglyness level?
