Poorly Catechized Convert
When I hear an argument and or conspiracy theory that's very illogical and far-fetched, I tend to respond sarcastically. I don't do this around the people who accept these things, but when discussing it with friends or family, that already disagree with these ideas. So is this something I should stop doing? CatherineM
Gosh I hope not. If I wasn't allowed to be sarcastic, I think my brains would squirt out my ears and make a mess on the wall. It's commendable that you don't do it to their faces though. One of my husband's friends believes that his psychiatrist is really a reptilian alien who lives in a space ship hovering over the state mental hospital. When we're having a bad day or a fight about something silly, I'll say something like, "it could be worse, at least I'm not a reptile." Stops the fight cold. Some things are just silly, and it's okay discount them with humor, otherwise more people might believe it too.
