George Zimmerman Found Not Guilty

Anomaly

The thing is I don't think Zimmerman was charged with stalking the kid or being a racist schmuck. He was charged with murder and/or manslaughter. Personally I think this would have been a great place to apply the manslaughter label. Nevertheless it's the prosecutor's job to prove all this beyond a reasonable doubt. Clearly, the jury had doubts.

Agreed.

I can disagree all I want with the verdict, but it's how the due process model of justice is supposed to work.

Edit:  "So say we all" in the jury statement being replayed unceasingly by the media seriously makes me think of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica.

So stalking black kids you suspect of being 'goons' is only maybe unjustified?

You should try getting your info from stuff other than the maliciously edited tapes NBC cooked up last year.

For everyone else with all the evidence as to how it went down and Zimmerman murdered Martin, maybe you should have called up the Prosecution and offered to be a witness.

Because every credible witness that the prosecution called ended up backing Zimmerman's story.

Myself, regardless of how it truly went down(because like many self defense cases, there is little hard evidence or direct witnesses/videotape/etc), I am thankful something called Reasonable Doubt exists, and that you cant just send a guy to prison for 30 years because of thin circumstantial evidence, you dont like the guy, or you just need to "do something".

This wouldnt have even been a story if the race angle wasnt pushed by the media, and if it wasnt falsely reported on so heavily. Interesting to see a hispanic man, who is as white as Obama is, being the face of white racism in the USA.

He still should of identified himself once he followed Martin after being told not to...That probably would have prevented this...But nope Zimmerman is an idiot and handled it like a retard...

I watched the trial gavel to gavel. Yes, no life have I. Already been roundly mocked for my over-interest, so y'all can skip that part.

I see two possible explanations for this trial:

a. state did an awful, truly crappy job, deliberately or accidentally.

OR

b. state knew they had no case but prosecuted an American citizen because of political pressure

I have a personal opinion about which it is, but either way it is MESSED UP. Please remember that this is the same system we use to decide who goes to the death chamber.

you got your facts messed up dude.

1) He wasnt told not to, and even if he was it wouldnt have had any legal weight. He was told "we dont need you to do that" [about following]. The person who told him was a dispatcher, NOT a cop. Their advice carries no legal weight and they cant give orders.

2) After being told that, very shortly after he lost track of Martin, and following the advice, didnt continue pursuit. Then he had no idea where Martin was for about 2-4 minutes, during which Martins GF testified that Martin was already at his fathers house over 100 yards away, that he was safe. Zimmerman was only ever following him for a short time.

3) at which point Martin decided to turn back and seek him out, at which point both Martin's GF and Zimmerman testified that Martin was the first to start talking, and the fighting commenced immediately after that.

The whole "Zimmerman stalked kid, and when the kid turned around to confront him, he shot him" narrative is completely false and not supported by any facts or witnesses.

Zimmerman still could of identified himself as a nigherhood watch and extended himself in a peaceful way to Martin...I don't believe that Martin was just some thugged out gangsta who went ape ish on Zimmerman with no hestitation and without being provoked....I think Zimmerman could have prevented this by identifing himself and acting with humility towards Martin....But instead he took the wannabe cop approach and already knew in his mind Martin was a thugged out black a##h**e t who always got away up to no good....O and Zimmerman had domestic violence disputes and put his hands on an undercover officer also...But I'm sureeeee he wasn't physicaly aggresive with Martin...

I don't follow criminal cases, so didn't follow this one, except at annoyance that Zimmeran always seemed to be referred to as "part Hispanic" or "identifies as Hispanic" or words to those effect (at least in the AP). He looks more Mexican every time I see him. If Obama is black in media reports, then it's strange to refer to Zimmerman that way. But I generally find the answer to life's questions in the movie "Friday":

Trayvon was not the perfect victim. He actually fought back at a guy who was stalking him for absolutely no reason. Boy shoulda known his place.

Uhh.....neighborhood had a past of sketchy behaving people.  Martin looked suspicious...One is justified in checking out suspicious behavior.

Police chief had to resign because he was doing his civic duty and not arresting someone he knew he did not have just reason to do so.  It ended his career because it was unpopular.

This trial was motivated by race from the beginning with people from the justice department spending federal money to organize rallies in favor of Martin.

Also, the prosecution threw charges that were very high to convict, but were politically correct for the crowd.  Granted the jury did have the manslaughter option, but only because the judge was doing all she could to make sure Zimmerman didn't walk.

It's amazing in a way Zimmerman was acquitted.  The system still kinda works.

So why didn't Zimmerman identify himself then ? Hey young man I'm the neighborhood watch guy how are ya doing ? We have had a lot of crime around here lately what are ya up to ? I'm sure Martin would of answered him and that would of been it. Martin woulda said I'm walking home from the store to my dads. I have my hood up cause it was raining. Zimmerman didn't do that though. He did the complete opposite. And then shot the kid to death. Sad stuff.

Or better yet Zimmerman could of just let the cops come and handle it...It amazing some of you people think Martin just went ape ish on Zimmerman for no reason. You actually believe Zimmerman didn't provoke a fight ?Even though he has past domestic violence issues and was violent with an under cover cop ? Zimmerman is an idiot and I hope he's smart enough to not show is face so he doesn't get murdered. Cause I don't want him to get murdered. That's not the answer.

My opinion - Zimmerman was kinda dumb and immature. But he was frustrated with everything going on in his neighborhood and wanted to watch Martin. Anyhow. He apparently had marijuana in his system so he's not the completely innocent kid everyone claims. I think Zimmerman acted stupidly, but not criminally. I think its unfortunate that the media by playing this up as a "race" case, has completely ruined his life. There's a reason he wasn't arrested for so long. Honestly I feel bad for everyone involved, Zimmerman, his relatives, and Trayvon Martin's relatives.

I would love to know exactly what Trayvon was doing that constituted suspicious behavior.

Walking around at night in the rain is suspicious.
