George Zimmerman Found Not Guilty

All the actual evidence is that Martin attacked first, and that he was on top of Zimmerman beating the $#!+ out of him before he pulled his gun.  Self-defense was likely - at worst, given the known facts, Zimmerman might have been guilty of manslaughter.

A decision in a court of law should be based in the law, not in feelings.

Heretical as that notion may be for many in 21st century America.

Not my point.  I agree that the decision should be based on the law, not feelings.  All I'm saying is that a teenage boy is dead and no matter who was guilty of what, I can't imagine how devastating this whole situation is for his parents.  It's hard enough to imagine losing a child, let alone because they were shot to death and then add in the intense media scrutiny.

I'm just trying to drown out all of the extraneous gossip and recognize the pain that his parents are experiencing.

So stalking black kids you suspect of being 'goons' is only maybe unjustified?

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Praise the lord, it's still legal in America to kill unarmed black men.

(sarcasm in case anyone doesn't get that)

Socrates will explain to you how that's not really racist.  Like flaying the symbols of the Ku Klux Klan, stalking and then killing unarmed black men is just perfectly normal, justified behavior.  What sort of person wouldn't have been alarmed and immediately suspicious of seeing a black teenager in their neighborhood????

So if a black guy is bashing your head against the concrete (or some similar event where your life is in imminent danger) you want it to be illegal to be able to defend your life with your last option of using a firearm?

well I mean all this proves is that it's ok to stalk people until they fight back and start kicking your ass, at which point you can stick a bullet thru em.

Trayvon was not the perfect victim. He actually fought back at a guy who was stalking him for absolutely no reason. Boy shoulda known his place.

The thing is I don't think Zimmerman was charged with stalking the kid or being a racist schmuck. He was charged with murder and/or manslaughter. Personally I think this would have been a great place to apply the manslaughter label. Nevertheless it's the prosecutor's job to prove all this beyond a reasonable doubt. Clearly, the jury had doubts.

I disagree with you and your sister about just about everything but I'm really glad you both post here.  I'm a better person for having to regularly read you and Lillabettt's opinions and engage with them.
