Winchester
People seem to think there must be a good guy and a bad guy in this. Encounters between decent people can go south quickly. Trayvon and Zimmerman can both be decent people, have an altercation, and someone walks away dead. Zimmerman doesn't have to be a racist to think a kid he doesn't recognize walking through the neighborhood is suspicious. He just has to be a guy worried about his neighborhood and sick of bad guys getting away with stealing stuff. Trayvon doesn't have to be a thug to get pissed at a grown man following him. Pissed off happens, and if one believes the narrative, Trayvon did not think Zimmerman was the neighborhood watch. And going back outside? The guy who you thought was following you is still outside. I get confronting that guy. Most people with a number of fights in their history will attest to moving in and continuing to hit a downed opponent. That's instinct. It's not nice. It is a crime. But it doesn't mean someone's a thug. I've done the same. The only issue is if Zimmerman committed a crime. Trayvon died. That sucks. He was engaged in a peaceful activity when Zimmerman found him suspicious. Zimmerman didn't identify as neighborhood watch, apparently. He should have. That probably would have changed everything. Trayvon could have stayed in his house, called the cops about some weirdo following him, or even just hit Zimmerman one time. He didn't. That sucks. Following people is not a crime. Hanging out near their house is not a crime. Unless Zimmerman verbally threatened Trayvon or threw the first punch, Zimmerman did not commit a crime. If Trayvon threw the first punch, he did commit a crime, although one I well understand and wouldn't really fault him for. Sitting on someone down and continuing to hit them is beyond misdemeanor. We're looking at felony, here. Fights are quick, fights are dirty, and you act quick or you might well die. This struggle BS you see in the movies and in the ring is not fighting. I wish Zimmerman had been smarter. I wish Trayvon had been smarter. I don't think there's a real bad guy, here. Just two men who screwed up. KnightofChrist
Source? If that's true then I would have a completely different opinion about this. I do recall reading reports that gave an actual quote of Ms. Jeantel (who many mistaken as his girlfriend but was just a friend as I understand). But I couldn't find those, but I did find this... Jeantel testified that Martin told her he seeked refuge in the backyard of his father's fiancée's house when the phone went dead.Source: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2013/06/rachel-jeantel-trayvon-martin/66625/
Jesus_lol
^ I went looking and found the same. However, after trying to find the original quotes and reading up more on Jeantel, I am realizing more and more why she was considered an absolute bomb of a witness. Changing story multiple times, bringing racial stuff into it, outright lying about her age, her whereabouts, etc while under oath... Im prepared to concede, absent any solid evidence that Trayvon may not have made it as far away as I thought. That still leaves several minutes where his whereabouts were not known to any party, plenty IMO for him to have gotten away. Source? My only difference with you is that Trayvon had another option which would have been to call for help. He had a phone. I can't see fighting as an option. It just breaks my heart that this tragedy happened. And kills me that there are so many who are choosing to exploit it. Why are so many trying get this to explode. It is a tragedy. Can't we learn from it?
Guest
Mabey Zimmerman will come out and say sorry and show some guilt...I remember in one interview with Hanity he said this is "Gods Plan" Right then I knew the guy was beyond an idiot....I agree with a lot of what Winchester said....I really really agree with the part about if he would of identified himself this never would of happened...That is the truth...But Zimmerman is an idiot and idiots don't identify themselves...They instigate a fight then shoot once they are getting their butt kicked...Prayers for all involved... Lilllabettt
I couldn't get past the first few moments where he says that Trayvon Martin had a "slight" frame. nooo. Seen the pictures? Not the 12 year old hoodie pictures. The I've-been-through-puberty 17 year old pictures. "slight" is the last word I would use to describe him. It is wrong at this point for anyone to talk him down. Let him rest in peace.
CrossCuT
He was embellishing, but his underlying message is good.

Let him rest in peace. Yeah, no, the kid was huge: WARNING, GRAPHIC

He looks more like 15 than 17. But then again, I'm not afraid of black people. Er, excuse me, I'm evolutionary deficient and my poorly evolved human brain, though apt at spotting patters in some circumstances, does not spot other patterns that may lead one to assume that a kid in a hoodie is a 'goon' and a 'punk' and an 'arse portal.' Biology sure is funny :D Edited July 16, 2013 by Hasan

CrossCuT
I cant even handle reading some of the things that have been said on this thread or the other that was closed. A boy has been killed because of this ridiculous situation and it is sickening and loathsome to hear comments about how certain characteristics of his (true or not) could have somehow justified this.
