PhuturePriest
Has anyone else seen this documentary? I'm watching it for the first time today. My God, this is awful. I feel so bad as I'm watching it. I've always been popular and well-liked. I easily fit into any group (Nerds, jocks, etc), and I've never had problems with bullying. It makes me feel bad for not trying to become friends with socially awkward people more and for trying to reach out and defend them a little more. CrossCuT
I was bullied a lot early in high school. Its hard for me to watch these types of things without getting very upset and angered. I have very low tolerance for bullies. The ironic thing is that I have found it very easy to slide into the bullying bullies mentality...which in turn makes me a bully. :| Edited July 11, 2013 by CrossCuT
FutureCarmeliteClaire
I was bullied in middle school. Sorta. It wasn't fun, needless to say.
EmilyAnn
I was really badly bullied when I was 13-16. It was horrible. And the worst thing was that everyone just stood there and let it happen. Even my teachers at school just stood there and watched, they knew it was happening to never said a thing. That was one of the worst things really. It's been five years and I still want to cry when I think about it. The nearest shopping mall is in the town where I went to school, and I'm still on edge when I go there because I don't want to see any of those people again. But I'm getting over it, because I'm determined to show that they can't beat me.

But I'm getting over it, because I'm determined to show that they can't beat me. I experienced a similar situation where the teacher saw it happening but didn't do anything about it. The bullying done to me was by a group of popular boys and it bordered on sexual/physical harassment. It very much angers me when I think about it...I am a completely different person than I was then, I believe the experience made me a stronger person. But when I see the same thing happening to someone else, a switch instantly flips in my head and I immediately do what I can to stop the bully. I dont think those people will ever fully understand what impressions they leave on a person after bullying them. Its horrible.
Spem in alium
I was bullied during my primary school years (so from the ages of 5-12), and it was quite traumatic. The teachers couldn't help much, though they did seem concerned. High school was less difficult, though there were a few people who tried to get at me. It did severely damage my self-esteem, but it also ended up shaping who I am - which I see as a positive outcome.

Also, it's not just socially awkward people or people who aren't well-liked who are bullied. As a kid I was actually fairly extroverted and made friends easily. Some people just decided to target me because they didn't like how I looked, not because I was socially awkward or unpopular.

Of course. I apologize, I didn't mean to imply that. I myself have a stutter. It's not really a problem anymore, but when I was younger I would sometimes struggle with it a lot, and I'm fortunate that I was never made fun of for it, even though most people with stutters suffer horrendously from other kids for it. So you're saying you're the Ferris Bueller of Phatmass? Whatever that means, yeah.
