Amazing Birth In Caul

Unfortunately, not everyone is close friends with everyone and knows each other really well. And regardless of intention, it DOES matter how people come across. Especially since this is not the only incident where TJMH has seemed to be targeted. I realize that's probably no one's intention, but it is how it comes across. And FWIW, my opinion in this are unbiased. It just seemed crude and rude how people were speaking to each other.

But then it also matters that she tried to pass off that answer as her own and got snarky when it was pointed out. She was equally as snarky, so why were/are Icey and FH being flogged for snark? And she wouldn't have been "targeted" in this case if she had cited her source. It does matter when people copy and paste without crediting the author. That is still plagiarism even if its not an academic setting.

Because I didn't read this comment well enough:

Oh poo, I forgot I have to cite my sources every time I answer a question on phatmass.

Silly me.

And I didn't realize this was snarky, so thus I was shocked by the responses that followed. My apologies.

But please everyone, continue to make snarky and rude comments. I'll back off now.

She admitted it was a mistake and had forgotten to post the link. So the charge that she tried to pass off the answer as her own isn't one we should make unless we are also going to make the charge that she is being dishonest about making a mistake.

The trouble could have been avoided if it was only pointed out that the source was missing, as the "fixed" post did at first, but then that was not enough, there had to be a charge of plagiarism (a joke so it seems) and other snarky stuff (jokes as well) even after she admitted it was mistake, in an apparent joking manner. Which probably made her defensive and answer with snark herself.

After she admitted the mistake and that she forgot, it should have been dropped.

Question: Why would you want your baby to be born in the caul? All I can think of is the scene in The Fellowship of the Ring when they are making Uruk-Hai and they rip them out of the caul. :P

Sorry. :P

But really, why would you actually want a baby born in the caul? It seems a little less... I don't know. I just don't find cauls cute or adorable. They're rather messy, actually. I know childbirth when the caul is broken is messy already, but that's expected, and I find babies cute in spite of all the goop and muck on them. :P

My cousin was closing his eyes and humming the entire time his wife was giving birth. I wanted to slap him, lol.

Hahaha. I'm not going to judge him because I've never seen childbirth in person, but I don't think I would avoid the situation entirely. Messes never really bothered me, especially if it was something important. But I know not everyone has a stomach like I do, so I'll give your cousin the benefit of the doubt. :P

This looks like a Guantanamo Bay interrogation procedure.

It looks like a lot of extra work to me. I would charge extra for having to do this if I were a doctor.

i'm actually hearing that people are getting more and more pics of babies being born "in caul" nowadays? anyone have more information on that?

yep, more birth photographers and more people choosing providers who don't routinely break the waters.

Sorry. :P

for one, it greatly reduces the chance of infection if the membranes are intact.

Well, that's a bonus. But I don't see why everyone is so amazed over it. It's not like the birth is cuter because the baby is in the caul or anything. :P
