ToJesusMyHeart
As previously mentioned, the reason most parishes are unable to offer Saturday daily Masses is normally due to the priest's schedule, regularly having to offer both a vigil Mass and, generally, a wedding/funeral/special Mass on Saturdays. Though the latter Mass may not be a weekly occurrence, it's frequency makes it difficult for priests to keep to a regular schedule that involves a daily Saturday Mass. And, keeping in mind Canon 905, a priest is limited to how many Masses he might offer in a day. So, in my area, parishes with multiple priests (2-3) are generally the ones with a Saturday daily Mass. Those with a single priest are unable to do so. While discussing this with one diocesan priest recently who's parish does offer a Saturday Mass, he pointed out how his associate had to say the daily and vigil Mass that weekend, because he had a funeral followed by a wedding on the same day. So, moral of the story: Pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. We have 3 priests here at my parish. :|
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I know of 2 parishes in my city that offer a communion service with the holy word, which counts for mass i'm told. I have had the same conundrum in my mind about this and my local parish which offers neither communion service or holy mass. My mum told me that she thought that previously when she was a practising catholic that they only had daily mass at the cathedral. And what you said catholiccid, thats what i thought that there is a shortage of priests. We have so few priests(and most of those are aged) in my diocease that there are a few that have been imported from overseas because of the shortage. Onward christian souls. JESUS iz LORD. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I think if the priest can't, then the regular akalytes should be encouraged to do a communion service with the holy word on saturdays, i confonted an akalyte with why there is no saturday mass at my local parish, but i haven't asked if there able to do a communion service on saturdays. BarbTherese
Our parish priests in Australia in the main have that many things they have to attend to that they just don't have time available. Our parish has daily Mass on Tues, Wed and Thursdays only. Sacrament of Reconciliation before Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings. Pray daily for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life - and holy and sound vocations to all vocational calls, especially those in leadership in The Church and society generally. ACS67
TJMH, For the First Saturday devotion attending Mass is not required. Receiving Holy Communion is what is asked by Our Lady. The Sacred Heart is the same way. Obviously receiving communion at the Mass is the "ordinary" way but in order to fulfill the obligation of the Five First Saturdays (and the 9 First Fridays) you could perhaps ask one of your priests if they would give you communion on the First Saturdays. There is even a little leeway of receiving within 24 hours of First Saturday.
CatholicCid
We have 3 priests here at my parish. :| So, is it a very large parish? If so, we can hopefully assume in charity that they all already have jam-packed schedules preventing them from offering a daily Saturday Mass. Perhaps they all offer a daily Mass at nursing homes on Saturdays or some other pious act. Granted, some priests may not offer a Saturday Mass because they might not want what they view as an additional task added to their already hectic schedule, so let's add an addendum onto the moral of the story. Moral of the story: Pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and for our priests, that they might always faithfully serve our Lord's call. BG45
I admit, I'm totally wondering where people live that there are 5+ parishes around them within 20 minutes of driving. I'm in a way more Catholic area than I used to be and don't have that.

Archaeology cat
Also, I should mention that my former parish offers daily Mass every day as well. A parish where a priest (a family friend) works in my diocese that is near me does not have Mass on Saturday mornings. They have daily Mass on Mon-Fri at 8am and Saturday is the Vigil Mass at 5:30pm. Another smaller parish in proximity to where I live offers first Saturday Masses but no Mass on other Saturdays except for the Vigil at 5:30pm. The other parish about 20 minutes away offers 1st Saturday Masses at the historic Church but they are healing Masses. They don't offer regular Saturday Mass at the Main Church or the historic Church. I couldn't remember the schedule there and forgot it was just healing Masses (you'd think I'd remember since I go to daily Mass in the historic church sometimes)I admit, I'm totally wondering where people live that there are 5+ parishes around them within 20 minutes of driving. I'm in a way more Catholic area than I used to be and don't have that. I did in Liverpool. We started out going to this one parish, and our priest oversaw that one plus two more, each about a mile apart. Of course, I also walked everywhere there, so distances were different, but that's still close (and there were buses). I haven't driven to all the parishes near me,but there are at least 4 within 20 minutes of driving. I live in walking distance of one.

But it's a pretty large metropolitan area and it helps that country roads (to a couple of those parishes) go pretty fast. And then at school I easily have 5+ parishes around, but I live in the middle of Seattle there.
TheresaThoma
At my parish we have 7:30am daily Mass Monday- Saturday. Plus Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday there is an additional evening daily Mass. There are many other parishes close by some offer daily Masses and some do not.
