Academic Advising And Getting Prepared

I just spoke to my academic advisor today and he made me realize that I would have to take 51 credit hours in order to be eligible for the nursing program to raise my GPA high enough.  I've already taken most of the prerequisites so it's just not feasible for me to continue towards the Bachelor's in Nursing at this time.  Thus, I have decided to continue with the major that I was admitted to the college for which is Health Administration with a concentration in Aging Services.  The advisor helped me understand that with my academic excellence in the business classes I have already taken, I would be a natural fit whereas the sciences I need to take for nursing are kind of over my head.  He suggested that I get my BHA now and then, if I am still interested in nursing in the future, I can get a second Bachelor's.

I still have to sit down with my advisor to do a mandatory formal degree evaluation and plan which classes I will take in the Fall and Spring semesters.  I already pretty much figured out which classes to take for the Fall:

Foreign Language (1st class in requirement)

Cultural Diversity course (required by the college as a general education class)

Principles of Managerial Accounting (a prerequisite for the BHA program)

Principles of Microeconomics (also a BHA prerequisite)

In the Spring, I plan to start the Health Administration program and do the 2nd class in Foreign Language.  Because there is less required for the BHA program, I'll probably finish sooner than the BSN.  :)
