Did the bill in Texas pass or not? All I heard about was the crowds chanting "Hail Satan" and someone telling the governor they hope his daughter is raped, but nothing on the actual bill itself.

Trademark Austin motto: "Keep Austin Weird."

The city is known as a vibrant and eclectic creative center and haven for an LGBT community, intellectual community, community of naturalists and environmentalists, and for subcultures and peoples who are not mainstream. In a mostly conservative Texas, Austin is "Weird" because of that and because it continues to be liberal and progressive politically, morally, socially, in culture, in the arts and in music, among other things. "Keep Austin Weird" moves beyond a mere slogan, to reflect the dynamics that encompass Austin, exemplified here.

What the billions of blue bilious blazing noodles in a thundering typhoon do coat hangers have to do with anything?????!!!??? And what the billions of noodles are children doing protesting anyway?!?!?

It'll probably be a while, I think. They have to start all over, and this isn't the only item on the agenda, and it bills have to be written before they can go to the house and the senate, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a few weeks before we heard much about finalization. But I don't really know much about this, so TJMH (or somebody else) should clarify if I'm right or not.

They used to use coat hangers for abortions, which as you can imagine is highly dangerous, so they're saying if you make abortion illegal we'll go back to the days of coat hangers and thousands of women will die every year due to our sexist bigotry.

And thanks.

Christina is correct.

They had a House committee meeting last week and the bill passed the committee so now it is being sent to the full House to be voted on sometime that is yet to be determined.

Since SB5 was killed by the filibuster/pro-aborts mobbing, the bill has a new name (but it's the same bill). It is now called SB1 and it will be heard in the Senate committee on Monday (tomorrow) beginning at 10am in room E1.036.

If you're in Texas, come early, wear blue, and bring prepared testimony.

THIS IS A CRITICAL DAY. Please make plans to come if you are able!!

Pax.

P.s. Miles, a good way to keep updated on this is to check the Texas Alliance for Life FB page since they are the main coordinating organization for the Pro-Life side. https://www.facebook.com/TexasAllianceForLife?fref=ts
