franciscanheart
Who cares???If what you are actually asking is "why does this matter", the answer is this: Facts are facts. Spreading rumors and lies doesn't help promote Truth, it detracts from it. That's why it matters. Not just because it makes people look foolish and out-of-touch with reality (they may or may not be), but because it detracts from the real issues and detracts from solid arguments. Lilllabettt
I have a hard time spending energy on croutons that doesn't make a hill of beans. I don't see how it is more or less sad. ETA: I found the difference if they are paid it is sad, as in pathetic and ignoble. (btw in the protest world the job title is "organizer" and it pays a per diem) if they are unpaid it is sad, as in discouraging and grim. We can work with facts. We cannot work with lies. We might try, but we will fail. You may not give two poops about reality, but you won't get very far living in delusion. It doesn't seem that hard since you've already devoted about as much time and energy to questioning if it isn't futile or irrelevant to point out that the pro-life media are misleading their readership as I have to pointing out the deception. I think that fact that major parts of the pro-life media are either overtly manipulative or staggeringly incompetent regarding this story (which they hyped) is at least as big of an issue as a young woman saying 'Hail Satan' sardonically at a protest. Lilllabettt
Whoever is spreading "the lie" that the people chanting "hail satan" were paid to do so is wasting their time. Although I guarantee that there were people there getting paid. At any protest you see there are a percentage of people who are paid to be there. There are kids who hang out in DC and they do this for their "living," such that it is. if you ever wonder how "activists" can afford to camp out for weeks on end it is because it is their "job" and they are making a per diem. Conservative groups do it but less often because their ground game stinks relative to liberals. regardless. it matters not. .
ToJesusMyHeart
Okay, to re-direct. From the House floor today: The Texas House Floor debate ...and a gallery filled with blue! :) On a hairier side: Pro-abort Representative, Senfronia Thompson, has made her entire staff hold coat hangers while she lays out her amendment. Dramatic much?? Oh, by the way, her whole staff is African-American. Wonder if they know that abortion is wiping out their race. Pro-life rally: Planned Parenthood is paying for people to come in buses to rally for abortion. Remember if we had over a million dollars in taxpayer money funneled to us on a daily basis like Planned Parenthood does, we'd be able to pay people to be there too. But luckily, we don't need it. People are coming to support LIFE on their own. :)

I would believe that people who attend protests as part of their job in that they are part of an organization which is organizing the protest. That certainly does happen. Obviously. I'd be surprised if a significantly greater percentage of pro-deathers were getting paid to protest than anti-choicers.

Lilllabettt
Years living in Dc- 6 protest seasons survived - 10 when i was in college i once or twice "volunteered" for an org and got "reimbursed" for lunch and subway ticket (yeah right) go out by the white house, probably you will see groups that have been out there for weeks, months, years. not as long as Concepcion Picciotto but a long time. sorry to burst any idealistic bubbles out there but most groups that can do this do. ETA: true of orgs in any city with a protest industry. DC is obviously hq but Austin, I'm sure is up there. franciscanheart
It may not be a rock concert, but one of the hottest tours in Texas will include a definite rock star. With the help of Sen. Wendy Davis, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund kicked off a statewide Stand With Texas Women Bus Tour this morning for those who cannot make it to the Capitol. Tour organizers are using the road trip to highlight not only the threat to reproductive rights, but also the effects clinic closures would have on whole women's health. The more high profile speakers will be joined by medical professionals and uninsured women who rely on Planned Parenthood for medical care. The first stop will be at 6pm tonight at the Anheuser-Busch Stage in Houston with Davis and Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards headlining. More details and further dates will be announced on the Stand with Texas Women Facebook page. Before hitting the road, however, the bus will take one small detour. From 11-1pm today, Richards will be leading a voter registration drive in front of the Jamba Juice at 2300 Guadalupe. Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars are encouraged to help. Lilllabettt
what about: " if we had $$$$ from taxpayers we could afford a flashy publicity tour with orange bus wrap too! " would that pass the smell test?
franciscanheart
I'd hope people would quit griping about how much money PP receives and realize that pro-life conservatives are sitting on a good hunk of change, themselves. Want to fill a bus and parade around the state? Start raising funds. Something tells me we aren't as poor a movement as we claim; we just don't have the umph to put our money where our mouths are.
