ToJesusMyHeart
I can understand that some might be uncomfortable with the sarcasm. One of my favorite parts: "Hey, how did you explain to your own child that she was utterly worthless while she was in your womb? That must have been a really special moment when you had that talk with her. I know anytime my children point to a woman’s pregnant tummy and say 'Look daddy, she has a baby,' I’ll make sure to correct them. 'No, honey, she has a parasite that she can, and probably should, have extracted and thrown in the garbage.'"
CrossCuT
I like the core of what the writer is trying to convey, however I think if they had said the same thing minus the sarcasm, it would have come off stronger. It wouldnt sound so bitter. We want to be inspirational!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ToJesusMyHeart
I dunno, I have read a lot of very inspirational pieces without sarcasm about this event, and after all those, it was kind of nice to read some angry sarcasm from Matt. Maybe I'm not as virtuous, but reading inspirational stuff without a "bite" over and over gets repetitive. This was a nice change for me. I'm both very angry and very hopeful, and reading a mixture of sarcastic and inspiring articles has been just what I need to keep going.
CrossCuT
I am very angry too! We need to do all that we can to stop the genocide against innocent, helpless, children. I dont blame the writer at all...its very frustrating to see people who "stand up" for a relatively popular view point and get hailed a hero...the irony IS hilarious...its maddening when you consider that they are standing up for murder. A hero? I think not. So I understand the sarcasm....however sarcasm doesnt win over hearts...but It is useful as a personal medium for venting. ToJesusMyHeart
Yeah, you're right. Sarcasm won't win hearts. I totally agree. I just think Matt wrote this piece with full knowledge that Wendy won't read it, and it is mostly to help fellow pro-lifers stay inflamed. It certainly did so for me. It helped me vent right along with him. :)
CrossCuT
I am cool with it in that sense.
Socrates
I know I'm an "Evil Conservative," but I had no problem with Matt Walsh's piece. I don't think there's anything wrong with using sarcasm to call out evil for what it is, particularly when many are praising Davis as some kind of hero for her actions in defense of unrestricted baby-killing. It's certainly better than screaming obscenity and calls for murder and rape like our beloved "mature" opposition loves to engage in. Mr. Walsh wasn't mocking Davis's physical features or such, but her support of unrestricted legalized murder. Sorry, but such extreme evil deserves absolutely no respect. God the Father
Uh Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are pretty popular so maybe there's something to be said for sarcasm and influence

Basilisa Marie
Uh Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are pretty popular so maybe there's something to be said for sarcasm and influence Yeah, but what Colbert does is satire, and both of them do it on their own shows in their own little sphere of influence. They're chiefly comedians. That's different from a sarcastic letter that isn't meant to be funny. I'm not a fan of the letter, but I can definitely understand why it'd be a welcome relief when you're tired of playing nice with super frustrating people. MissScripture
I agree with mission. It's one thing to condemn abortion. That's not what this letter does, it mocks her. If he'd written a strongly worded letter that wasn't sarcastic, I would love it. It's easy when are passionate about something to want to belittle and mock our opponents. I've been guilty of this here on PM more times than I can count. It doesn't make it right. Someone once told me that our real opponent is Satan, not Obama, or Wendy Davis, or anyone else really. We shouldn't forget that they are a person with dignity, and the potential to be a saint. Condemning them as demonic, which I've seen a lot of pro-lifers do (not necessarily here) or mocking and belittling them, like this letter, does nothing, in my opinion, to change hearts and advance a culture of life. That's my 2 cents. :like:
