Total Consecration To Mary

What are the best resources for consecrating ones-self to Mary? I know you can buy books to prepare but I need something free. Are there any reliable resources? I don't want to use some website that is wacko. :hehe2:

Also, after consecration how does life change? Does one need to wear a miraculous metal at all times? What practices are takes up on a regular basis?

I apologize if this topic has been asked before, I couldn't find the information anywhere else! :saint2:

I'm partial to Kolbe, but Montfort stuff is great, too, as far as preparation goes.

I've noticed more...umm....serendipity? since consecration.  The closer you are to Mary, the more things sort of open up for you, I've become more at peace with God's will. :)   You don't HAVE to wear a medal all the time, but it's a good idea, and highly encouraged.

What I've found is that Consecration looks different for each person. Every person will have a unique relationship with Mary and the way you spend time with her will vary. For some people it's a huge, daily part of their lives; for others it's not. Montfort recommends people wear a small chain, say certain prayers, etc., but it is my understanding that none of those things are required.

I've tried to say the rosary daily since my consecration. I'm partial to the de Montfort preparation. There's a free app with all the prayers for the iPhone (might be an android version too).

That's really cool! Now I just need an iPhone! :hehe2:

Also, what is the difference between preparations (like, from Kolbe and de Montfort)

it's not magic. won't make you less likely to sin. won't magically grant you powers to like the rosary more than you did than before you did the consecration.

I realize that. :joecool:

I just wanted to know the best way of preparing to make the consecration without having to buy anything and the difference between the different saint's versions of it.

Like, is this a legit website? http://www.totalconsecration.ageofmary.com/

Yeah, that's the one Missy linked to. :)

I used fish eaters for the information; it talks about both Kolbe's and de Montfort's methods.

Step 5:

After Consecration

Once you have consecrated yourself to Jesus through Mary, live that consecration. St. Louis-Marie de Montfort recommended the following:
Keep praying to develop a "great contempt" for the spirit of this world

Maintain a special devotion to the Mystery of the Incarnation (e.g., through meditation; spiritual reading; focusing on Feasts centering around the Incarnation, such as the Annunciation and the Nativity, etc.)

Frequently recite the Ave, Rosary, and the Magnificat

Recite, every day if it is not inconvenient, the "Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin" -- a series of Paters, Aves, and Glorias -- one Ave for each star in the Virgin's Crown. St. Louis has a special way of praying the Little Crown, which is recommended.

Do everything through, with, in and for Mary for the sake of Jesus, with the prayer, "I am all thine Immaculate One, with all that I have: in time and in eternity" in your heart and on your lips

Associate yourself with Mary in a special way before, during, and after Communion (see Supplement of the book, "True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary" above)

Wear a little iron chain (around the neck, arm, waist, or ankle) as an outward sign and reminder of holy slavery. This practice is optional, but very recommended by St. Louis. The appearance of this chain is not further specified. [can be the chain that your Miraculous Medal is on]

Renew the consecration once a year on the same date chosen above, and by following the same 33-day period of exercises. If desired, also renew the consecration monthly with the prayer, "I am all thine and all I have is thine, O dear Jesus, through Mary, Thy holy Mother."

Optional: Join the Confraternity of Mary, Queen of All Hearts. Their address:

Director, Confraternity of Mary Queen of All Hearts
     26 South Saxon Avenue
     Bay Shore, NY 11706

Fish Eaters is so sedevacantist it isn't even funny...at least, last time I checked.

I've started prep (St. LdM method) three times and flunked out by the second week. I really want to finish it, but something always gets in the way. I was talking to Sr. Mary Perpetua about my Total Consecration woes and she suggested that I do it over the summer so I would have less distractions. And then she told me, "Hey, you should do it the same time we do it!!!!" Kinda like  :hehe: So I'm gonna try again.

Kolbe is better than Montfort simply because he's Franciscan.

I'm joking, of course. Each has different parts of it, so I recommend looking into each and see which your spirituality seems to be drawn towards the most.

Nah, they aren't REALLY sedevacantist.  I came across a sedevacantist dating website earlier today.  THAT was weird.

You may disagree with the people at Fish Eaters if you like, but please do not dub them schismatics when they are not. They have never declared the Pope isn't the Pope, which, if I'm not mistaken, is what makes Sedevacantists Sedevacantists.

If you're talking about their forum, idk about that, but I haven't seen anything in their articles that's really suggested that. I came across their Total Consecration page through google last year, but I hadn't read much of anything else on there until recently. Maybe I wasn't reading the right pages, but I didn't see anything claiming the invalidity of the NO or anything. It doesn't seem like that would affect the Total Consecration pages anyway.

So what feast is your Consecration going to be on?
