A Question Concerning Harry Potter

I am not a troll. Trolling on a Catholic phorum would entail challenging well known Catholic doctrines and dogmas or campaigning for the most anti-Catholic president in American history.  None of which I have done.

I've merely presented a hypothesis which does not contradict any de fide truths.

Huzzah for Dr. Bombay.

If you're not trolling, which is becoming less and less believable every time you post, perhaps scale back a bit on the sarcasm.

Of course.  Everyone in the media is just there to make you smile and everyone in the government is just there to help you and no one in another religion would ever kill you because you don't believe like they do.

And I'm the magical man from Happy Land in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Laaaaaaaaane.

Because it's Illuminati propaganda.

Or maybe you'd respect the opinion of dads.org, who sadly don't mention the Illuminati at all in this article, but point out other problems:

Those fuddy duddys at dads.org! Always trying to ruin kid's fun.

Her responses troubled me. How
has Harry Potter become so ubiqui-
tous that he influences the play of
children too young to read about
him? More importantly, why do
these stories link magic, power and
the killing of one's enemies in the
tender imagination of little girls? To
begin answering these questions, I
read two of the books myself.

:

ith all of the media hype,
even in the Catholic
press, I could not help looking over
the Harry Potter books while shop-
ping one day. After reading a few
pages, I put Potter down with a
shudder. Oozing with the occult and
dressed with disgusting details,
these stories by J.K. Rowling are
not the kind of thing I would read
my little ones at bedtime.

These two paragraphs contradict each other. You can't not read a book and then make accusations that the spells instill a wish to kill. One of the main points in Harry Potter is that killing is wrong and you should never use magic to kill. Doing so rips a part of your soul away and makes you less human --  a dramatic way of showing a very Christian belief.

I like Harry Potter.  I like A Song of Ice and Fire.  Maybe I'm hellbound?

Of course there's no evidence of their current existence.  Duh.  Do you think they're stupid?  I've never, nor would I ever, accuse those people of being stupid.

Lack of evidence is, in fact, the only evidence we need.  QED

Furthermore, the Freemasons are a front group, as are the Lions Clubs, Odd Fellows, Mormons and such other of those ilk.  They are practiced at the art of deceit, masquerading even as an angel of light while carrying out their wicked designs in secret.  Much like the author of Harry Potter, which brings us full circle does it not?  Indeed it does.

Um, what? I'm confused. I got in contact with my local Lion's Club  dude because I was told they are Catholic and awesome and they would help me pay for my eye exam. They did pay for it, all of it.

Are they fishy? I didn't get that impression at all. And I'm so thankful for their generosity.

I must strongly object to your molestation of that phrase. :|

Lions are fine.  Lions, Rotary, etc, are service-based clubs.  It's a great thing that they paid for your eye exam. :)  Basically, the problematic ones are the quasi-religious societies, which include Masons (which have a history of being especially anti-Catholic, particularly in Europe, so much so that one of the reasons why the Militia Immaculata was founded was to "combat" the Masons).  Oddfellows are also quasi-religious, so I dont' think Catholics can join them.  Though one year I wrote them a nice thank you letter because they donated a ton of money to my high school band that allowed us to go on a trip to California, and I was band president.

One of the biggest reasons why they're problematic is because they promote religious indifferentism, at least that's the biggest "on paper" reason why the Church is against them.  In practice most have been pretty anti-Catholic, too.

From this article talking about problems with the Masons: http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?recnum=1368

The opportunities for making business contacts and enjoying fellowship in other organizations are so plentiful that no Catholic need feel he is sacrificing much by following the precepts of his Church in shunning the Lodge. He can join the Kiwanis, Lions, Elks, Eagles, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Moose, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, Serra Club, Optimists, Exchange, Rotary and dozens of other civic and service organizations.

So yeah.  :)

I have heard the same. and i would not be surprised if it were true but its not like if wiggle a twig and shout them anything would happen.

Besides real spells or not it is made up story so you won't endanger your soul by reading them.

Harry Potter is seriously dangerous, we have a generation coming up soon that are magic inclined. Quijah, tarot, horroscopes, numerology, psychics, sayonce and wicca, to name a few that our youth will be inclined to try, if given a chance, under the banner of magic.

I lol at people who think Harry Potter is the great satan.

There is only one Satan, ma'am, and I am pretty sure he does not dress like that. :|
