southern california guy
Crosscut, that makes sense. Of course I have such poor will power that if I buy ice cream and cookies... I'll end up eating all the ice cream and cookies in about 2 days... Maybe I need to choose better food for desert? Maybe some really good fruit and yogurt?! :smile4:
Slappo
Or just don't buy the junk food at the store and it's not as tempting :). If you have to, avoid the isles and close your eyes walking past!
CrossCuT
It does take some will power :( Its not always easy. But you should indulge sometimes! If I really really want some ice cream, I will totally have some. If you completely deprive yourself you'll end up binging. Just make sure that when you DO indulge, you control your portion and only eat half of what you may have originally. Or, when you buy treats, buy healthier alternatives (or like slappo said, none at all). Although the none at all option wont work for me because I love my sweets. Depriving yourself of that wont really help anything. They have lots of low fat ice creams and frozen fruit Popsicle things at the grocery store!! xTrishaxLynnx
I dropped 35 pounds. The majority of it pretty much melted off when I became vegetarian... just sayin'. About 2 months after that, I started working out 4-5 times a week (30 minutes cardio, 15-30 minutes other workouts and stretching) but that only lasted about a month and a half. I went on vacation and never picked it back up, but I haven't gained the weight back so I'm attributing most of the weight loss to the other lifestyle changes I'd made. I should probably also add that I've cut out soda almost entirely, but that was a more recent change and I haven't really lost weight since doing so; basically just the same two pounds keep fluctuating back and forth. I'm sure I'd lose a bunch more if I got back on the exercise bike and ate a bit less, but... meh...
CrossCuT
I dont think vegetarian lifestyle would be a viable option for everyone, again, youd be cutting out major food groups out of your diet. If SCG thinks becoming a vegetarian IS what he wants to do, then by all means go for it. Like I said previously, I dont recommend cutting out anything completely, it needs to be manageable. :flex2:

Don't we all not eat meat on Friday all year round anyways? Isn't that enough punishment lol. The term "You punch like a vegetarian" was coined for a reason. Must say a lot of inner strength is required and props for that, but I still don't think your doing your body the wonders you believe yourself to be doing. My diet. rotfl I guarantee I eat worse than anyone here so I really shouldn't critique. NET ministries (My dream job) would have taken me if i had a halfway normal diet, but some of my neurological complications make it difficult to do much eating at all anymore. Especially not at home. NET ministries (My dream job) would have taken me if i had a halfway normal diet, but some of my neurological complications make it difficult to do much eating at all anymore. Especially not at home. My diet has been really good the last three months -- because I have been living with my parents (I broke my leg). My moms cooking is far better than mine and dinner always includes two vegetables, maybe potatoes or rice, meat, and salad. And I feel great. Also my parents have fruit trees so I am eating a lot of fruit. They just had a big crop of peaches, but the cherries were good too earlier. And I am an obsessive gardener and I grow every type of fruit tree that I can -- including South American, African, Australian, and Asian varieties. So I probably get more sugar from fruit than I should. I'm even tempted to grow banana's and plantain and fry it for breakfast.. :bananarap: I am sticking to my exercise program -- riding an exercise bike for a half hour a day, and doing chins and dips and shoulder presses. So far I haven't lost any weight but today I did 21 pullups in a row (A personal record!), and my heart rate seems to be a little lower every day when I ride the bike. I am going to try to stick with my exercise program for a year (And add other weight training exercises for a better rounded program) and see what happens. I will even try to add an update to this thread in a year.
xTrishaxLynnx
Give yourself off days. Also, you are probably gaining muscle while losing fat, so the scale might not change much, but - as you've already begun to notice - you're going to feel better. I have felt much better, and slept much better, since I began exercising regularly.
