Itty Bitty Straps

I went swimsuit shopping this morning. :paperbag:  I like that swimsuit manufacturers are starting to realize that women with curves (i.e. not just x-small, small, medium, and large) like swimsuits that are pretty (i.e. not just black). but almost every single one-piece suit I saw, had itty bitty straps. how long will it take manufacturers to realize that itty bitty straps are not going to hold up a bigger size chest?  :bomb: My search will continue for a swimsuit.  :sailing:

I feel your pain. I was lucky and found a halter with wide straps at Sears that was able to support everything. Granted, halters hurt. But at least it got the job done.

Kohls has an ok selection. My suit is ok but there was only 1 rack of plus size suits vs. the 8 racks of two piece suits. Retailers need to get with it.

If you're willing to drop almost a hundred bucks, I've found the holy grail of swimsuits.

Seriously, if you scroll down to the reviews and look at the pictures some people have posted, or even just look at the measurements of some of the ladies who comment, it literally flatters EVERY BODY TYPE.  Well, not every body type. Super skinny, super long-torsoed people might have some issues.  But it's great.  Plus they have all the colors. And cute patterns.

But if you're looking for something less obnoxiously expensive, I feel your pain.  There's nothing out there.

The question is: how well does it hold up. I don't mind a suit that averages out to $20-$30 a season, but I really am not in a position to pay more than that.

i just can't buy a suit that cost more than $30. it gets worn for maybe 3 or 4 months of the year.

i tried kohl's, ross, a sporting store, old navy, sears, target, tjmaxx. apparently asking swimsuit manufacturers to have a suit under $80, and has good straps for my apparently ginormous boobs that isn't an old lady suit, is a bit too much to ask for.

i was going to try our local mall, but i'm already depressed and need a drink.

I'd tell you to come over but...

You really need to move closer. Also: I FEEL YOU. (Just ask IcePrincess. I was lamenting this earlier today. Ish.)

That's really frustrating. :( I've ordered a couple suits online, but of the time's I've done that I've had to return the item probably 50% of the time because it fit weird (I'm only counting first time purchases in that, I like tankinis best and once I find one that works well for me I will re-order online, even if I bought the original piece in the store). I totally understand the hesitation in buying online without being able to try it on. I wanted a modcloth suit at the beginning of the year, but I definitely balked at spending $80 on the suit (even though I could probably wear it April-September) without knowing it was going to look awesome on me.

Get one you like and take it to a seamstress to replace the straps with something tougher

Try another major department store - Macy's, Lord and Taylor's, Neiman Marcus. This time of year they have killer sales.
