Great.  Now I have the Safety Dance song stuck in my head.  :|

Excellent.  Then my work here is finished.  :|

Nihil Obstat

The main thing that is an issue for me while the forum is being fixed is that the threads I have viewed are not being properly tracked. So I will read a thread, then five minutes later the forum shows that I have unread posts on that same thread from days back. That is kind of frustrating, and ultimately I just end up looking at fewer threads, rather than sift through the 'unread' replies that I have actually read several times over.

I'm too lazy to search… does archiving or un-archiving or whatever cause old threads to disappear for good?  if it does I think that everyone should Google and  bump their favorite threads…

I'll use this thread to keep y'all up-to-date with the archiving. The board will be back to normal when the phorum is 0% archived. right now we are:

66.72% archived (63871/95736)

Any way us dirty plebs can help you out with that?

Not unless you can write a php script or manipulate a MySQL database to speed up the process.

dUSt, I will make a point to pray for you and the success of your fixes each day until you are done.

Are there particular times of the day/night when you are working so the board is less stable?  I asked because last night the site ate the work I was doing on the Nunsense walking the Camino thread three times (hey it was hungry, and it wanted tapas, I guess....).  I ended up doing 4 hours work when I thought it would be 1 to 1.5!   Nunsense also indicated that she had a big post that disappeared as well a few days back.

Not complaining, but if you know there will be periods likely to have outages, could you give us a heads up on this thread?that way I can work around you.  We aren't complaining.... just would love a little warning.  :)

Thanks!

:(
nope.

So is this unarchiving causing new posts and threads to be deleted or something?

I don't think it doing it intentionally at all.  But sometimes it seems to be doing something in the middle of the night (when I'm doing those posts and Nunsense is checking in from Spain.   It seems to cut off some of the stuff, or refuses to post and the work is lost.  It may be a function of just the 'slow down' -- and possibly it is a function of too long a post.  I split it up into chunks early this morning, and finally got it to post.

Again, NO criticism intended at all, dUSt.  This is an amazing resource, and we are grateful!!!!

(BTW if you haven't checked out the Nunsense Walking the Camino de Santiago thread, it's a pretty neat thing.

She is about 15 days into it....)

And if you do check it out, leave her a message.....

No, it shouldn't.

Until things become stable, I suggest writing long posts in notepad or something and then copy/paste here. That way you have a saved copy.
