KnightofChrist
I'll withhold any opinions until there are other news sources corroborating this. Indeed.
PhuturePriest
O wait not just a prositution ring involving minors....A homosexual prostituion ring involving minors....lol wow....Honestly prayers for all the Catholics out there who try to be Holy....I am honestly not mocking you right now...But as a 31 y/o adult this new info is to much considering what has went down in the last 30 years...Its just unbelievable....Get some straight married Priest and Bishops involved with the Church already...This is gettiing out of hand... The Church caved in the 10th (?) century and let Priests get married. Priests became notoriously sinful after that, whereas they weren't before. Getting married won't solve a thing. If God calls you to celibacy, he gives you the graces to be celibate and pure. It's your choice if you want to use those graces or not.
dUSt
Why is everyone ignoring the "stealing consecrated hosts and giving them to Satanists" part? In my opinion, that's an even greater crime.

I know, it is heartbreaking. :( This is unreal. But "straight married priests and bishops" is not going to necessarily fix the problem. The majority of perpetrators are married men. But I agree, it is way out of hand. We shall see the truth of the story in the coming months I am sure.

Ice_nine
I know this is a little bit off topic but is it true that a married man can be ordained in the priesthood, but cannot be married if he becomes a priest when he is not married? eta: it's obviously not common practice in the latin rite but is it a possibility? I guess that's my question. Edited June 27, 2013 by Ice_nine
Guest
That's worse then a homosexual child prostitution ring involving Bishops ? Not saying you aren't correct but just asking ?
GeorgiiMichael
That's worse then a homosexual child prostitution ring involving Bishops ? Not saying you aren't correct but just asking ? A consecrated host is literally Jesus Christ. So yes, desecration of the second person of the trinity is the gravest crime that can ever be committed. Guest
But God has control over the devil and satanist...I am not saying you aren't correct...But at the same time a homosexual child prostituion ring involving minors and Bishops who claim to speak for God is pretty messed up...God is God and has power over satan and satanist...a little kid doesn't have power over some perverted "bishop" who claims to represnt God and is trying to get in the little kids pants....So again I'm not saying you are wrong but I'm not convinced you're right...Godbless... Gabriela
Alright guys I'm just sayin....This is too much...lol I'll still be Catholic but the guilt trip factor is over...I won't let that be involved in my life anymore....All this if I masturbate I'm going to hell even though I haven't had sex in 5 years...And I'm not claiming to be pure by any means but I sure as hell don't have nothing to do with a prostituion ring involving minors...Who does that ?? Haha wow.....alright I'm going to sleep...Night and Godbless..... Delivery Boy, I'm noticing a distinct "theme" in your posts across the Phorum. I wish you'd keep that stuff to yourself. It is making me uncomfortable, and I've no doubt some of the other ladies here feel the same.

I guess that's my question. Technically yes, but I'm pretty sure they have to have already been an ordained minister for another religion/denomination first. That is, with the current "rules", a married Catholic guy can't just decide "Hey, I want to be a priest, too" and get ordained. But, if he were an Episcopal/Anglican priest and he converted he could become a Catholic priest (example: we have one of those guys here, he's got like 4 kids). I thought it was possible, but highly discouraged.
Apotheoun
I know this is a little bit off topic but is it true that a married man can be ordained in the priesthood, but cannot be married if he becomes a priest when he is not married? That is correct. In the ancient Church married men were often ordained to the diaconate and the presbyterate, but once a man is ordained he cannot get married, which means that a single man who is ordained cannot get married, nor can a married priest whose wife dies marry again. Dr. Bombay
So in addition to being able to touch ourselves in inappropriate ways, does this news now allow us to get drunk? Cuz I'm very fond of a nice buzz. And there's nothing I like better than inhaling some of the bomb skunk too. Oh, and since we now have the shocking revelation that not everyone in the Church is perfect, does this mean I can steal too? I've had my eye on quite a few things, in a rather covetous manner I must confess. Confess. Heh. I mean, lol, wats up wif dat? How can anyone tell me anything is wrong if they're sinners? Please. Don't waste my time. I'm out.
Vincent Vega
The Church caved in the 10th (?) century and let Priests get married. Priests became notoriously sinful after that, whereas they weren't before. Even many the earliest Christian clergy were married, following in the footsteps of the Judaic tradition. It wasn't until the 11th century that celibacy became "mandatory" (and even now you don't have to look hard to find licit priests in good standing who are married). That said, it has practice since very early on not to allow priests to marry.
