Sexism Goes Both Ways

This new video from Samsung has brought some controversy, and the controversy is justified, in my opinion: http://shine.yahoo.com/love-sex/samsung-s-primitive-husband-angers-men--is-it-sexist--173827672.html (Warning: Some language in the article itself)

In essence: Men are useless disgusting slobs that are only capable of drinking beer, eating chips and watching TV. But, thank God we have a genius "expert" to help us realize this add isn't sexist:

“You can say [this ad is] prejudiced, in bad taste, insulting, not funny,” she said. “But it can’t be sexist. Just like a black person can’t be racist. Sexism is a word with a very specific meaning, which is a certain group having more access than another group to the things that make life worth living, such as high wages and good housing.”

Basically, if you insult women, it's sexist. But if you insult men, it's impossible for it to be sexist, but you can call it prejudiced if you really find it necessary. I'm not even going to waste time on the ridiculous statement about black people not being able to be racist.

Anyway, this is insulting and emasculates men, as it takes away the dignity and value of men, which is the definition of emasculation.

Your thoughts?

God the Father

Are you sure that quote is legit? It sounds too absurd to not be a right-wing MRA plant.

The closer in particular:

"things that make life worth living, such as high wages and good housing."

U mad bro?

Actually, no. I sometimes speak/type in what can be construed as angry, but I'm in reality not very angry, just trying to convey that I'm not pleased. I do this mostly because it's really difficult for me to feel anger, so I find it difficult to type in a correct way that conveys unhappy feelings.

6,401 comments. That article did what it was intended to do. Online content is mostly useless marketing.

i hate the sitcoms where the guy is fat and schlubby and a lazy father and irritating, and his wife is hot, skinny, well-endowed, and a harpy and a helicopter mom. Those kind of shows and some commercials don't do either of the sexes any favors.

Exactly.  And it's incredibly easy to name tons of sitcoms that do that. Everybody Loves Raymond, The King of Queens, Yes Dear, According to Jim (That one is particularly bad), Rules of Engagement, How I Met Your Mother, etc.

Have you ever watched How I Met Your Mother?

Indeed. All of those guys are slobs. Why is this shocking?
