franciscanheart
In the thread on this issue someone already stated that she had a catheter put in.That sounds snarky. I didn't see another thread about this, but please feel free to link and request a merge if you feel it's necessary.

Gabriela
That sounds snarky. I didn't see another thread about this, but please feel free to link and request a merge if you feel it's necessary. Not intended to sound snarky. Already been linked. Thank you, LWS. Don't care if you merge or not. It's a big event. Why not two? Edited June 25, 2013 by curiousing
franciscanheart
Oh, that thread. I forgot that was related. I read it as a "Can you meet me at the Capitol" thread. My bad.

It was originally about that, but now it's basically a running commentary/stream of what's going on. :)
Maggyie
Never impressed by someone with a lousy perspective on human rights. Filibusters ultimately just require a lot of hot air, which plenty of politicians have in abundance. I mean I guess it's nice that she's being respectful about it? But ultimately she's doing this because she feels clinics that tear unborn children limb from limb shouldn't be regulated too much. I don't feel it's immature to find her attitude disgusting. Of course if I was actually having a face-to-face discussion I would focus on areas of agreement and not on how she believes in horrifying violence as a solution to women's problems. She is well-spoken and extremely respectful. Whether or not we disagree does not remove my ability to recognize that. This is clearly not the case for all.I support SB5, but if we're going to have someone attempting a filibuster, I'm glad it's Senator Davis and not some of the others I've heard on the floor today. I have a huge issue with filibustering in general.

I think it shows there's a problem if we are not disgusted by attempts to defend what is in fact the murder of unborn children. While we should exercise Christian charity, we must remember that this what abortion is all about. We should never lose sight of that.
LittleWaySoul
Why? Because, from what I see, it doesn't get us anywhere. I see it as a sort of adult form of temper tantrum: "I didn't get what I wanted, so I'm going to stand here and talk until they let me get my way!" type of thing. I wouldn't support a filibuster even if it was one with an intention sympathetic to my own. But I guess that's just me. :idontknow:
ToJesusMyHeart
I don't think we need to be quite so dramatic about it. Do I disagree with some of what she says? Yes. Of course. But she doesn't make me sick. I respect what she's doing, even though I disagree. Being disgusted with each other doesn't really lead to respectful dialogue. You're a better person than me then. She makes me sick.

I can acknowledge the nausea she gives me and still continue to pray that her heart is changed. They are not mutually exclusive. Because, from what I see, it doesn't get us anywhere.
