Am I Excommunicated?

Poorly Catechized Convert

I know this is probably going to turn out to be a stupid question and I'm quite embarrassed to ask; but if I don't I won't be able to relax.

Once I stumbled across arguments against Catholicism and decided to look into them. Well during that time I gave the other side true consideration and even imagined converting. I even found that it was appealing, to some degree. Although, all in all, I stayed committed to the Catholic Church and never truly made steps to leave. In addition, there has been times where I'd stumble across conversion stories of people who left Catholicism and I've found my self almost taking their side. A similar position happened when I stumbled across someone asking how to convert a Catholic (in this case I was praying that the Catholic stayed strong and not convert in addition to my concerning feelings). Again, I have never renounced Catholicism or strayed from the teachings of the Church. I fully intend to take these things to confession and as I type this I'm filled with disgust for myself.  Still, I'm wondering, am I guilty of apostasy or another offense that carries an excommunication?

The ground for excommunication is this: You have committed a grave offense that caused you to be spiritually separated from the Church and the community of the faithful. You have left the Church on your own accord by committing the offense.

In your case this is not so. Don't worry.

The following offenses warrant excommunication as a result of a judgment from a church authority:

Pretended celebration of the Holy Eucharist (Mass) or conferral of sacramental absolution by one not a priest

Violation of confessional seal by interpreter and others

Some excommunications, however, are automatic (effective at the moment the act is committed) and without the intervention of the Church. Catholics are automatically excommunicated for committing these offenses:

    Procuring of abortion

Apostasy: The total rejection of the Christian faith. NOT YOUR CASE

Heresy: The obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth, which must be believed with divine and Catholic faith.

Schism: The rejection of the authority and jurisdiction of the pope as head of the Church.

Desecration of sacred species (Holy Communion)

    Physical attack on the pope

Sacramental absolution of an accomplice in sin against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments

    Unauthorized episcopal (bishop) consecration

Direct violation of confessional seal by confessor
