OnlySunshine
I was doing some research on chocolate allergies and I'm not sure I ever want to eat chocolate candy again. I seriously wanted to vomit when I read this. I cannot believe that the FDA allows this. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2012/03/bugging-out-chocolate-allergy-linked-to-roaches/ I used to have what I assumed was a chocolate allergy but it probably wasn't, especially since I no longer have symptoms. This stinks because I just bought some M&Ms and Junior Mints as a treat because I made "A" averages for the summer semester. :(
Ice_nine
Just eat your M&Ms (if you're not going to suffer from allergies). So there's a little bit of cockroach in there? Hun, the vast majority of food sources are so corrupt a little roachy is not gonna kill you.

Basilisa Marie
The FDA allows up to 8 insect parts per bar because it's literally impossible to keep bugs out of all parts of the chocolate making process. There are similar regulations for all food, especially any processed food.
OnlySunshine
This sometimes makes me wish that bugs were non-existent, especially cockroaches. :X

Not to mention the "dust" at the bottom of a box of cereal or crackers, etc. it's just a natural part of growing/storing food. HisChildForever
Gross but I'm not surprised. You just can't avoid it. Somewhat similar - I do my best to avoid all meat and meat byproducts but I undoubtedly consume byproducts daily without even realizing it. Impossible to avoid 100%. I would never be able to take an entomology class, I'd probably throw up and I'm not even kidding. I find bugs to be so nauseating. Can't stand them. Gabriela
I had a student give a speech about entomophagy. It was fascinating. And a little disgusting. I wouldn't mind the crunchy ones, but the ones that squirt puss into your mouth as soon as you bite into them—[SHUDDER].
ploomf
I remember how grossed out I was when my science teacher told us that she'd found bug parts in her Raisin Bran and when she wrote the company about it they said that by law they could have a certain amount of insects in the cereal. I had trouble eating Raisin Bran for the rest of the year. :x

Lilllabettt
A lot of people outside of the west eat bugs as a regular thing. They aren't dirty.
