cartermia
I just picked about 3/4 gallon of mulberries and I need to do something with them. Does anybody have any good mulberry jam recipes? :eat:
DiscerningCatholic
No...if it were blueberries, I'd be able to help ya. My mom made several trips and came back with more than 20 pounds each time...we have 30 pint jars of preserves...on her desk right now. :|

arfink
Um, well, I suppose you can make jam from mulberries about the same as most other kinds of berries, but I've never tried. How sweet is a mulberry? For other things, I would definitely start here: http://www.yummly.com/recipes?q=mulberry%20recipes

cartermia
A mulberry is basically a blackberry but it grows on a tree. They are sweet with just a hint of bitterness.

VeniJesuAmorMi
If you haven't done anything yet; this mulberry pie recipe sounds good. I haven't tried it before, but from what I read it will have sweet-tart flavor. Some people did a little bit of changes but you could read those in the reviews if they would be helpful: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mulberry-Pie/ Here is a mulberry preserves recipe also: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mulberry-Preserves/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Thumb&e11=mulberry&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Recipe Here are a few jam recipes: http://www.food.com/recipe/mulberry-jam-2770?layout=desktop http://www.bestrecipes.com.au/recipe/Mulberry-Jam-L3639.html http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/mcp-mulberry-jam-60902.aspx

VeniJesuAmorMi
As much as I enjoy baking and do it often I haven't made a homemade pie crust before (though I'm certain that a really good homemade recipe is better than store bought.) I use the Pillsbury pie crust; it always turns out well. :)
cartermia
Thanks, I think my dad usually uses the Marie Calendar but the bottom is never cooked thoroughly. I might have to try the Pillsbury pie crust...
