OnlySunshine
I know I posted that I'm taking a break but I was wondering if any of you have ever been diagnosed with a goiter? I was applying makeup this afternoon and put some lotion on my neck. I noticed that the left side of my neck, at the base, was enlarged and I can tell a different between the left and right side. I've had an annoying cough pretty much all year with no diagnosis except my ARNP told me to take Claritin which hasn't helped. I just checked the symptoms online and a dry cough is a symptom of a goiter. I've been hypothyroid since May 2012 and my doctor currently has me on generic Synthroid 25mg. I'm unable to afford the brand name, unfortunately, since I'm not working and I have no health insurance. I just tried to call the doctor's office but they are closed and you can't leave a message. I'm a little worried. I'm going to try to have my thyroid levels tested again to see if the meds need to be readjusted (they were adjusted in February). The doctor told me that I only need to have a test once a year unless I experience symptoms. If you've been diagnosed with a goiter, what did it feel like? Just an enlarged gland at the base of the neck?
OnlySunshine
BTW, my dad has a goiter and hypothyroidism, as well, so it runs in our family. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a goiter.
