Theological Question.

What if you composed a little prayer of your own to that effect, then prefaced your litany with it? I do that sometimes.

Sort of like "Please help me to really mean this", but in whatever words are meaningful to you.

I might have to compose a prayer of my own to say what you suggested, because I can't seem to find any better, pre-written prayer that says it. But I shan't be prefacing the Litany of Humility with it, because I really can't imagine ever meaning it while I am responsible for my own livelihood.

Can you? How do you look at that prayer? Do you say it even though you need your job?

What about the Suscipe: Prayer of St. Ignatius:

Receive, O Lord, all my liberty. Take my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. Whatsoever I have or hold, Thou hast given it; I give it all back to Thee and commit it wholly to be governed by Thy Will. Thy love and Thy grace give unto me, and I am rich enough and ask for nothing more.

Or this prayer:

O Jesus, living in Mary,

Come and live in Thy servants,

In the spirit of Thy holiness,

In the fulness of Thy might,

In the truth of Thy virtues,

In the perfection of Thy ways,

In the communion of Thy mysteries.

Subdue every hostile power,

In Thy Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.

Nihil's first post reminded me a lot of a homily I heard a really awesome Priest once give. He said that you must love yourself, because you must love others as you love yourself, and if you don't love yourself you cannot love others. The key is making sure you love yourself rather than are infatuated with yourself and how great you think you are.

Nice! Yes! I like the Suscipe in particular. Thank you, Lil Red! :-) :-) :-)
