It is a matter of "you can fulfill your obligation by doing so, but you need not"? I believe that's correct, yes. I certainly don't think one sins by attending the Orthodox liturgy. But one runs the risk of getting schismatic cooties, so I think it to be ill-advised in any case. But I'm not a Canon lawyer, so I could be wrong. My motto is, he who has the Canon makes the Law.
