Spem in alium
I have a similar feeling, that I'll die younger rather than older. In a way, I kind of prefer it.

HisChildForever
Who else walks out of the AMC after a great movie pining for a more adventurous, thrilling, "special" kind of life? This sort of reminds me of that. Like a fantasy buried away. No one fantasizes about the actual process of becoming a martyr, I'm sure, I'm just talking about the glory that goes with it or the idea of dying for the faith. Or the epic good vs. evil thing. Nihil Obstat
oooh I love jesuit martyrs! so of course Assuming Bl. Miguel Pro is canonized, I believe those pictures will be the first in history of the moment of a saint's martyrdom.

How ironic if they had used a canon instead of rifles :| and September 25, 1988, Pope John Paul II honored Fr. Pro with these words: Neither suffering nor serious illness, neither the exhausting ministerial activity, frequently carried out in difficult and dangerous circumstances, could stifle the radiating and contagious joy which he brought to his life for Christ and which nothing could take away. Indeed, the deepest root of self-sacrificing surrender for the lowly was his passionate love for Jesus Christ and his ardent desire to be conformed to him, even unto death :)

That would be a very difficult execution. Or did you mean a cannon? :|

Papist
Everyone I've told this to got all, "Oh my gosh, aren't you scared? I'd be scared out of my skin if I ever thought that I'd die young!" And I'm like..."No..." But if I die young, don't bury me in satin and throw me in the river at dawn. :| Everyone wants to get to heaven, but don't want to die to get there. And to answer your question. Yes, you are weird. Welcome to the club.
Annie12
If any of you were watching Mother Angelica last night on EWTN, she said that we know we are headed for heaven when we can face our own death and judgement without fear. Just a thought! Also, no you aren't weird. I have thought this too. I didn't feel like telling anyone though because they wouldn't understand and would probably think I'm suicidal. I'm not. But, I suppose in the world's eyes you're weird... I like to daydream about heaven and imagine all the people I will see there that have died like my grandpa and my unborn sister. I sometimes just get really happy thinking about heaven because in heaven there will be no more hardship. It also helps me to endure my current crosses better, knowing what is ahead. One more thing. I was watching this old movie called "A Man Named Peter" and Peter was a preacher in this movie set in the 1950's. Well in one of his sermons he said that to die is like falling asleep in the living room and waking up in your bed. I liked this way of putting it! Just though I would share! dominicansoul
DC, if God so wills for you to enter the convent, Religious Sisters seem to have an uncanny way of living to a ripe old old old old old old old age... ...that's what I meant about you living to be 110 years old.... Unless the regime in America gets worse and starts executing Catholics, then I can see all of us dying very soon....I'll take an injection, I can't stand the sight of my blood... DiscerningCatholic
If I'm martyred, I want to go down in a cool way. The firing squad is too boring. I wanna go down Edmund Campion style so I can brag about it in heaven. Martyrdom: Ur doin' it wrong. Not being able to imagine a future is common for people with PTSD or post-concussion syndrome. Don't have PTSD and I've never had a concussion. How ironic if they had used a canon instead of rifles :| DC, if God so wills for you to enter the convent, Religious Sisters seem to have an uncanny way of living to a ripe old old old old old old old age... ...that's what I meant about you living to be 110 years old.... LOL I don't mean dying THAT soon...haha! I mean like Therese or Gemma Galgani or Elizabeth of the Trinity and all of them young sisters (I don't think Gemma Galgani was a sister, but whatevs) who were sisters but still died fairly young. And yes, I can see America getting bad enough... :hmmm: Edited June 12, 2013 by DiscerningCatholic
