I'm Being An Emotional Teenager

What's wrong with me? I'm a failure. All my life, everyone has always told me that I'm really good looking, that I'm very charming, and that I'm the kind of guy girls like. It has come to my attention that at the very least that last statement is a damnable lie. I've liked three girls in my life. The only girl that liked me back never even met me, and the only other girl in the universe who likes me is the creepy stalker one at the store. The girl that I love told me that I'm everything she wants in a guy, and that she doesn't know why she doesn't like me romantically. What's wrong with me? I'm everything on her list. We're so close that everyone thinks we're secretly dating. What the hell is wrong with me that makes girls incapable of liking me romantically?

Okay, rant over.

How old are you FP if you dont mind me asking? 16? Is that correct?

If so....You have like a million years to find a girl. You have time, dont stress.

I know. Hence the title. :P

But what does it matter if I have a million years if there's something wrong with me that doesn't make girls like me romantically, even when we're accused of secretly dating?

By "everyone" do you mean "my mom" ??

But seriously. There's nothing wrong with you. Isn't 16  too young to be forming romantic attachments anyway?

You need to just not think so negatively.

I didnt find anyone until I was 24 and there are many more in a similar boat.

Best advice to give is to not stress. Dont focus on that to a point where youre allowing it to degrade your self esteem...thats just obsessing.

People NOTICE that and it can cause them to repel.

Love yourself for who you are and people will be attracted to the positivity.

ITS CLICHE FOR A REASON

But I'm a really positive person 99% of the time. I'm just having a bit of a freakout right now.

Nihil Obstat

Girls are mercurial. She has probably changed her mind over half a dozen times since you started this thread. :|

I think complaining about it is normal. At least for girls it is.

As a teenager I periodically thought of myself as "wretched of the earth" and I know my gal pals did on occassion too.

I like how you effectively thought up a bunch of random facts that aren't even facts. You got 99% of your facts about me wrong. Nice try. All of my close friends are my age, and they are girls, just for reference.

Not that my advice matters much...

You're still young. A lot of relational stuff is learned through experience. That being said, it is possible to get trapped in a cycle if you've been through some stuff. If you feel that's the case, it might be a good idea to seek counseling now, so you don't have to eventually do it when you're older and waste a bunch of time in between. If you do decide to go this route, make sure you pick a psychologist who isn't an idiot (you'd be surprised how many of them are). Try to find one that specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Here's a cool article: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/03/25/looking-for-evidence-that-therapy-works/

I'm already doing that, and she doesn't seem to be an idiot, which is nice.

Maybe you're called to the priesthood?

But like others said, you're 16. You have eons before you need to choose your vocation.

I would be lying if I said that thought hadn't occurred to me. :P

Calm down and drink a nice cold glass of lemonade.

I like lemonade. That sounds rather nice.
