Julie de Sales
Sometimes I would like to go to confession during Sunday Mass, but I wonder if confessing doesen't make you miss the Mass and not fulfill your Sunday obligation of attending a whole Mass the days of obligation. And I'm not speaking about a 5 min confession, but in the case you would skip almost all the celebration. I don't always stay that much, but it can happend (I know...I get caught up in the details). Even if physically I am in the church, it doesen't seem that I take part at the Mass. Maybe you will advice me to go on another day, but I would like to know what would be the answer in this case. Theoketos
Confess in kind and number. Leave the messy detailed excuses out. Also this is why the practice confession at Mass has fallen out of style. (Also where my priests at?) Though, I think in the old manuals this question is addressed. It seems that your obligation is fulfilled. It certainly seems to me that being fully engaged in Mass is the ideal.
