GregorMendel
Hey guys! I think Ive been around here long enough to know that some of you might be interested in helping an amesome cause my sister is engaged in. For the next two years, my sister, Sarah Jane, will be serving as a Varsity Catholic missionary on a college campus (soon to be named)! During these two years, she will serve as a missionary and student leader to college athletes at her assigned school. A unique aspect of this program is the crowd fund raising by which she must support herself for these two years. In return, her donors will recieve regular updates on her activities, and will be her dedicated intentions in her prayers; the simplest way she described it to me was in the same manner as a benefactor might support an artist, whose work would be dedicated to their support. Sarah has always been an inspiration to me, overcoming the odds to graduate with her MBA last month from our university (Mount Saint Mary's), and playing on two division 1 sports teams, softball and lacrosse. She was one of the reasons for my return to the church and has always been on of my biggest cheerleaders, so i see it as a privilege that i may help her in this endeavor. If you would be interested in learning more about Varsity Catholic and the work Sarah will be engaged in over the next two years and would like to contribute to her mission, please meassage me! Thanks you guys, GM

Amppax
Varsity Catholic, the only effective part of FOCUS. (In my experience) I think it depends on the place, I have friends that were involved FOCUS for whom it was a great thing. It depends on how it's done. My own experience is like yours, but FOCUS is rather superfluous at Franciscan (IMO). Also, I think that is great Gregor. I can't really help financially, but I'll definitely pray for her. That's a good point. I have heard some great things about FOCUS at secular campuses, but at places like Franciscan, where you went, and the Mount, where I went, it's superfluous, because there's already a strong and active campus ministry. FOCUS at the Mount was a source of unnecessary drama, with very little fruit, except for when we had a Varsity Catholic missionary come, because many of the athletes weren't active spiritually.
