geetarplayer
When I went to LifeTeen Camp CoveCrest in July, one of my new friends told me about a song called "The Catholica Song", a parody to Adam Sandler's "The Hanukah Song". She could only remember the part that went, "Put on your Scapula, It's great to be a Catholica." When I got home, I did a web search to try to find the lyrics to this song, but my results were disappointing. The internet search engine made it seem like no such song even existed. I then went to the LifeTeen.com message boards to see if anyone knew the song. No one did. Finally, I used my determination in a more creative way: I decided to write my own song. So, without further adue, here is my version of "The Catholica Song", an adaptation of a parody of Adam Sandler's "The Chanukah Song." ******************** Put on your Scapula It's great to be a Cath'lica We're on the right path-lica Becuase we're Cath'lica Catholicism is an apostolic church And some of us aren't too wild about stem cell research But if you feel like the only kid in town who prays the Rosary Here's a list of Catholics, just like you and me: Kelsey Grammar follows the Pope So does Liam Neeson and the late Bob Hope Guess who celebrated Mass while in the West Wing? John F. Kennedy and NBC's Martin Sheen Mel Gibson's Catholic, Mel Brooks is a Jew Put them together and you get Mel the Cashew With so many Catholics how can you be uncertain? When can read the Bible with Reading Rainbow's Levar Burton Put on your Scapula It's great to be a Cathol'ca We fear God's wrath-lica Because we're Cath'lica We've got James Belushi, who sometimes goes as Jim Jay Leno is Catholic and so is his chin Although Bing Crosby went to meet St. Peter You know he was a Catholic, just like Derek Jeter John Travolta was raised Catholic, but no longer makes the Sign of the Cross Now he's a Protestant, but it's his loss So many Catholics in show biz Kerry Kittles is Catholic (but I don't know who he is!) Put on your Scapula It's great to be a Cath'lica Always study math-lica You crazy, crazy Cath'licas So take a bubble bath-lica Watch Power Rangers Star Ship Galactica On God's behalf-lica Be a happy, happy, happy, happy Cath'lica! ****************** By the way, I never said the aforementioned celebrities are good Catholics. I don't know who actually lives by the faith and who just uses it as a religious label. *shrugs* -Mark Edited August 22, 2003 by geetarplayer

Jake Huether
dUSt, You have GOT to put this on the CD (maybe as a bonus or something). Oh! It would be hot hot hot. Shoot! Seriously, this could go on the radio! Hah! I just thought about it. You know how Wierd Al does adaptations of songs? Maybe we could get him to do this one! Is he Catholic? Oh, that would be friggin amesome!

Oh, that would be friggin amesome! The group "Apologetix" does Christian parodies. the lead singer/songwriter was raised Catholic (fallen away, though.. ) so some of their songs have a Catholic feel to them. Pretty funny stuff!! geetarplayer
Some points to ponder: Jake, I don't mind if you e-mail it to your friends. Remember, Adam Sandler wrote the music to this. Before you put it on a CD, you need to get his permission to parodize it. By the way, my name is Mark LaBelle. I wrote the parodized words. So nyah. B) And also, there might be another version of it floating around somewhere that we have never heard the full version of. Then again, there might not be. And I don't think Al is Catholic. -Mark Edited August 22, 2003 by geetarplayer
VeraMaria
I LOVE THIS!!!! It's great! How did you do it, I mean, it looks like it took you a long time....(or maybe that's because I'm not too talented with stuff like this!
geetarplayer
We've got James Belushi, who sometimes goes as Jim Jay Leno is Catholic and so is his chin Actually, I'm not completely sure if Jay Leno is Catholic. So let's do this instead: We've got James Belushi, and Andy Garcia, Same goes for Peirce Brosnan, Carson Daly, and Aaliyah And VeraMaria, I didn't write it all by myself. I had some help. *wink wink nudge nudge hint hint say-no-more* -Mark

Dave
Two things: About 9 years ago, I read that Kelsey Grammer's then-fiancee was Catholic but that Grammer wasn't , yet he attended Mass with her. But maybe he converted; I don't know. As for John Travolta, he's not Protestant; he a Scientologist.
geetarplayer
I read that Kelsey Grammar attended a Mass and that's all I needed to jump to the conclusion of his Catholicism. Also, I didn't know there was a difference between Protestantism and Scientology. Thanks, Dave! ******************************* "The Catholica Song (revised)" Words by Mark LaBelle Music by Adam Sandler Put on your Scapula It's great to be a Cath'lica We're on the right path-lica Becuase we're Cath'lica Catholicism is an apostolic church And some of us aren't too wild about stem cell research But if you feel like the only kid in town who prays the Rosary Here's a list of Catholics, just like you and me: Carson Daly follows the Pope So does Liam Neeson and the late Bob Hope Guess who celebrated Mass while in the West Wing?
