What Precisely Constitutes

Pardon me.

After a week or so absence at PM, various threads I have seen tonight/this morn here give the impression of general hand-wringing over so-called Protestant bashing (by other Catholics).

IMO, it is completely disgraceful for Non-Catholics (NC's) or Catholics (C's) to hover about as if poised for blackmail, to promote some non-offensive/no hurt feelings order.

Common decency, yes. Politeness, yes. Being precise w/ words/terms, yes.

Hand-wringing over who might pick up their toys and go home when terms are given/defined/defended equals impotence and false charity. The Bride of Christ is holy and the great pearl of price. She is not a whore; and has nothing to apologize for, nor is she evil; but ravishing.

Tolerance is not the greatest virtue.

Chairty is. But it cannot be founded upon anything other than the two virtues which go before it: 1) Faith 2) Hope.

Charity is false unless grounded in truth.

So, please, if any wish to say what is offensive as regarding teachings of the Catholic Church....

Let's brawl!

Er, dialogue.

Donna,

As usual you see things with a clear eye. Thanks for reminding all of us who the Church really is.

with my prayers,

peace...

Maybe some honesty from non-Catholics then.

Like, "I'm not here because I'm seeking objective truth, or in any way think Catholicism has to do w/ it. But here's why I am here: ______."

But why get offended (NC's especially) over what the Church defines herself as, and all the rest? What does it matter to you? This country's full of so-called Catholics who are really heretics, and they'll be cuddly but not "arrogant" or militant in the least.

Mulls, I don't mean you [yet!]. In my shambly opinion you're here 'cause you're attached to the ppl here (and probably other reasons, I'm sure).

I like it quite a bit that while I've a soft spot for you, you merely tolerate me.

Probably nothing to do w/ me being Catholic, tho.

If I was in prison I'd want PedroX to bring Mulls to visit me... over cigarettes and coffee.

This is exactly what I've been wondering!

Galatians 5:22-23 (The Phatmass version)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love (for other Catholics)
joy (in each others clever posts)
peace, longsuffering (Catholics read: "Aye me! Protestants are out to get us")
gentleness (ah, it's really not THAT important)
goodness, faith (blind and bumbling is the way to be)
23 Meekness (reverse that, have no humility at all)
temperance(forget that, let's me militant and harsh to visitors0
against such there is no law.

Phatmass, your fruit is showing, and it stinks.

Who's bashing whom? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

You're misjudging the majority of the posters here.
You'll not find another "Christian" website quite as welcoming and hospitable as this one.
Even on our Debate Forum, we treat one another with civility. Yes, we may use sarcasm, but we don't shout, we don't call names, we don't use profanity.
I don't know what's gotten your shorts in a knot, quite frankly.
And even if it were not about us, I would not appreciate seeing anyone twist the Sacred Scriptures to mean what they want them to mean, as you've just done.
Then again, if Martin Luther did, I suppose all his followers can also. -_-

Dusty,

I am really shocked and surprised by this post. I had come to expect more and better from you. Sure, we are all sinners but is that truly how you view us? Do you really see us as arrogant, whiney blind and bumbling? Are we so harsh to all visitors? I would ask that you reconsider your words. Many of us here are glad for a protestant presence and work hard to keep those protestants who engage respectfully with us.

I hope that Mary, the Blessed Mother or our Lord and Church will pray for you and your hard heart.

peace...

Ok, I'm sorry. I actually have a very soft heart, which is why I get my feelings hurt so easily.

Dusty, the most loving thing one can do is tell the truth. St. Paul didn't mince words with the Galatians; he told them plainly that they were going to hell in a hand basket and needed to repent (Gal 5:4). He did this because he loved them, and desired their salvation. When Catholics preach the dogma of extra ecclesiam nulla salus we are operating on the same principle. It's not that we want to be harsh, but simply that we would rather sacrifice tact for the sake of souls.
23 Meekness (reverse that, have no humility at all)
A Christian is to be humble about his sins, not his convictions. We are to proclaim Christ crucified loudly and boldly without worrying whom we will offend.

Dusty,

No offense, bro, but if you have a soft heart and your feelings get hurt easily, you should be attuned to the fact that others might have this trait also. But your last post was incredibly demeaning to every Catholic here, myself included, when I hardly think I've done anything to warrent it, as I'm sure others have not.

All I'm saying is practice what you preach.
