ChristinaTherese
I'm packing up so I can put things in storage on campus for the summer tomorrow evening, and I came across an old notebook. It has some gems at the beginning: From an Art History Kind Of Class Question: Would Sherlock have used Google, or still made his own database? [Dr. Kr must have been Googling images of pieces of art.] O my goodness! She just put a picture of a monstrance on the screen! Blessed Protestant woman, she! <Insert heavenly words of joy.> Can I go to Confession even though I'm not Catholic yet? May I, Father? I really need it.... I want Confession! I want Confession! I want Confession! I just want to be absolved of almost ten years of sins, dammit! [I really wanted to be Catholic.... It wasn't for almost another year until I actually was, though.] The. Eucharist. Is. The. Body. Blood. Soul. And divinity. Of. Our. Lord. Jesus. Christ. Which is why it's the best thing to contemplate. "Oh, well, it is mortal sin, Father, but we're on a crusade for God.... I'm sure that He'll understand." [I came up with this in reference to the Crusades.] From a Theology Class (at a Protestant school...) "I do not understand in order to believe, but I believe in order to understand." - St. Anselm Women are looked down upon? Our greatest saint is a woman.... (teehee) [I think that Dr. Ke was saying they are in the Catholic Church, but I'm not sure.] "When God calls a person, He bids them come and die." - Bonhoeffer "The nature of water is soft, that of stone is hard; but if a bottle is hung above the stone, allowing the water to fall drop by drop, it wears away the stone. So it is with the Word of God; it is soft and our heart is hard, but the one who hears the word of God often, opens his heart to the fear of God." - Abba Pomen (Desert father) Sometimes making random (possibly snarky) comments in my notebooks has been the only thing keeping me sane during class.
