toledo_jesus
here's a question for ya. Recently our acting priest left the parish because he was apparently in conflict with the fascistic machinations of our pastoral coordinator. He told us this during Mass, before he had done the closing prayers. He didn't discuss it with anybody, he didn't tell anybody what was going on. Anyway, so he's technically on medical retirement and asked us to continue his weekly stipend. I know all that was kind of wrong to do. My question is regarding his frequent omission of the Nicene Creed at the Mass. I admit that the first time he did this I stood up and walked out, swearing. That was probably not good. But he addressed the omission of the creed in one of his homilies at some point and told the parish that he wasn't really required to say it. I don't know about that. Can he as a priest do this? Pontifex
First I would say, pray for your Parish and the conflict to cease. Pray the rosary for peace and unity. A priest is required to lead the people in the Creed at Sunday Mass, except for rare instances. It should not be the norm. Peace, Fr.
