The Most Beautiful Poetry

I wasn't laughing so much as I was astounded that she didn't die. If I did half of what she did, I would have died within minutes.

Yeah, Dylana, come to think of it, I think I've dealt with enough near-death experiences for the week. :|

Q

&^

/#

C

Queue,

Ampersand to the power.

Slash pound,

See?

The Q, as often used, stands for "Questions." Questions like: "Who are we?" "Why are we here?" "Is there a God?" "What is your favorite value meal at Wendy's?" ... questions everyone grapples with over the course of a lifetime. Always wondering, never knowing. Mysterious questions that haunt mankind, that keep them up at night reading postmodernist poetry and crying into their last bowl of Doritos.

&^ most likely represents the internal desire of the poet for more. Is there anything beyond this life? There's gotta be something more than this, right?
This also continues the questioning motif from the first line.

/#, pronounced, "slash pound," could refer to the poet's desire to slash and pound these questions out of his head. They drive him mad, and his only idea of a potential solution is to kill them. An alternate interpretation could be that /# is a commentary on Twitter and the use of hashtags. Is Twitter just a 140-character forum for a superficial discussion of the questions posed in the first two lines of the poem? Do hashtags mean more than we think they mean? What does it mean to hashtag something, anyway? Does anyone really know? Does anyone really know anything at all?

And finally, C, the pièce de résistance of the master-work of poetic art. C undoubtedly asks the reader yet another question. "See?" Do you see the questions of life? Do you realize their significance? Does anyone understand what it feels like to question things instead of taking them blindly at face value? Does anyone realize how stressful it is to wait in the drive through at Wendy's, trying to decide what to order, while the cars pile up behind you until there's a line out into the road and people are starting to honk and call the police?
The C could also be a reference to the sea, a vast
expanse extending miles and miles into the unknown.
This C, this final question, sums up the entire poem nicely by tying together the questions from the earlier stages of the  poem and the universal fear of the unknown that is a major theme in this work.

One of my favorite poems, I must say.

Yui Horie is currently on high rotation in my car's cd changer. :proud:

She also happens to be one of my favourite voice actresses, with such diverse roles as:

Huh. I know none of these characters. Seems my knowledge of anime is supremely deficient. I must rectify this over the summer.

You, sir, have introduced me to a new genre of music to know and love. Thank you!  :bounce:
