cappie
This reflection is occasioned by a number of topics aired lately: Being Sad: It's part of being human; sad times will come. Many young people are going through some of that right now. Some hold back the tears, which isn't a good plan. God gave us tears as a pressure relief valve. If you are sad and you need to cry, do so. You may need to excuse yourself if the company you are in won't understand, but don't hold them in. Turning to Him: He did die for those tears. He died for all of the dark things we humans go through. He died for our sinful nature. When He says "for those tears I died," He meant it. Many may think that it is only for those shed when we confess our sins, but then why does the Bible and the Third Eucharistic Prayer talk about the time when all tears will be wiped from our eyes and we will have no need to cry? Revelations 21 makes it clear that we will one day be without pain, sadness or any other of the negative things we have to deal with. Practicing It: Putting this to practical use is the hard part. There is a time for crying when going through difficult times, but there are also times when we have to stay calm. I have often used the 23rd Psalm for this purpose. On occasion, I've spoken it out loud to others who are dealing with difficult issues. Most have said it helped. It is not absolutely necessary that you choose that passage, but find one that helps you feel calm. It can be from the Bible, a poem or even a picture. I am grateful that Christ was willing to die for me. I'm glad to know that someday I won't have to feel sadness because of His sacrifice. It lifts me up when I am dealing with the troubles life bestows. The only thing required of me is to confess often my sins and put my faith in Him, so that one day, He will wipe all the tears from my eyes. http://youtu.be/22GZB6urwJc

Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
That whole release valve is beautiful. I think sometimes after i have cried this simple thought "the river of God will set our feet a dancing." it is the chorus from a song.
