ploomf
Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend any good books on the history of the Catholic Church, the structure and beliefs of the early church, and on the Protestant Reformation and what led up to it. As I study more I'm coming to realize that most of what they taught us about these things in Mormonism was, well, just plain wrong to put it lightly. Thank you! Nihil Obstat
Faith of the Early Fathers, by Jurgens. It will tell you a lot about the beliefs of the early Church, and in an indirect sense also its structures, for instance when some of the early Patristics talk about bishops, the pope, the clergy, etc.. Nihil Obstat
I bought that set... nearly four years ago now. Loved it. It is really fascinating to see just how Catholic the Patristic period really was.
CatherineM
We used a history of Christianity by latoutrette, story of Christianity by Gonzalez and history of the medieval church by deanesly in medieval church history. I took the class with the seminarians from western Canada. The first two are volumes that we used for both modern and early church history classes. Can't remember right now which one I liked best.
