truthfinder
Are they really that bad? (Aside from the whole Bishops and homosexuality thing.) They do have legitimate cases but when it comes to religious issues, particularly homosexuality, they can be pretty scary. You're pretty much guilty until proven innocent, if found guilty you have to pay the defendants court costs, there tends to be very biased judges. Until this year (I'm not sure if it's codified in law yet) you could basically be tried if you hurt someone's feelings. Some of the courts were even in window-less basements just to add to the ominous feeling even more. That's what I can remember, but I know there were other practices that just didn't square with how justice is normally carried out in a typical courtroom. TheresaThoma
So glad it's not just me! Do you switch back to KLOVE during WAY-FM's pledge drive? Actually no I tend to just plug my iPod in and listen to Josh Garrels and whatever else I have on there. Sometimes I will switch to another local (non Christian) radio station. That seems downright Orwellian...and if they'd go after people for hurting one another's feelings, a large portion of the internet would need to go to that windowless basement room. <.< Your description of them makes them sound even creepier than I had thought! Have to admit, I've not heard any of Garrels stuff since Stone Trees.
BG45
Weirdest Scholarship Recommendation I've ever had to write. It's asking me 4 questions it wants a hand written response for, about how well I think this Sophomore would do in a doctoral program. One question, "What is your candid appraisal of the applicant's intellectual ability, aptitude for research potential for doctoral study, and quality of previous work?" I don't know, she doesn't take her first research course until Junior year! I'll write nice things about her work ethic and say she's doing well in my class, but still. CrossCuT
I always feel like recommendations are meh. Half the time the professors dont know you at all. At least that is my experience...although I guess it depends on the size of the class etc. I have had many classes where there are about 100 students and the professor hardly remembers your name unless you see them on a regular basis. But numerous times they have said they are more than happy to write recommendations as long as the students participate in class by answering at least one question...or other such things. Who ever is reading these letters are they aware that most of it is just generic flowery sunshine juice? BG45
I've been here since 6am. I had pretty horrible, vivid, nightmares last night. Bad enough I woke up a second time at 5am and just showered and went to Walmart. Picked up a 3DS and reserved Pokemon X & Y. May take a nap and go to the midnight release...not sure. I do know this girl on sight, because our class is relatively small. 37 people. The only classes I've gone to, in universities known for emphasizing small classes sizes, that are as big as you describe are intro courses! And I'm certain the folks reviewing it know it's just oh so much sunshine stuff for the most part lol. I've done my best to be totally honest though, emphasizing her hard work, class participation, and a motivation I believe would allow her to excel in what's not only a test of intelligence, but of your will to continue. :)
arfink
Ah Pokemon. I was never much into the game, and now I have even less patience for it. Katie apparently doesn't have much patience either. ;) I was helping her convert GameShark cheat codes for Pokemon Yellow to work on Mednafen emulator last night. Now she has an infinite supply of Masterballs, Rare Candy, and money.

And it was very sweet of you. I love Pokémon but I was tired of running out of money and the endless battles trying to level my Pokémon up. Especially when I would get a new one and it would be at a super low level compared to the rest of my team. :p
BG45
Ooh rare candies!!! Back during Red and Blue you'd not even have to technically "cheat" to get infinite masterballs and rare candies, just use the Missingno glitch! You two are so cute as a couple. CrossCuT
The weather is nicer, however Im still having stress between myself and a friend. Well...more like T and I are having troubles with a friend and her bf. Mostly on political issues. The shutdown really brought to light the differences we have in that area...and what is really important to us. le sigh Im not innocent...I can get pretty fired up about things but I dont generally do it for no reason. The crux of the matter is all the negative, insane, teapublican things she posts that are basically calling the poor subhuman. A quote she posted literally called people on government aid programs "parasites". I had to prevent her posts from showing up in my feed because its stressing me out. T is much more outspoken and likes to open dialogue but things never go very well. They accuse him of being questionable in his faith which really hurts him.
