arfink
I have no problem with regulating abortion facilities. Abortion facilities should be heavily regulated. But those regulation should actually pertain to public health. As opposed to the attempt of conservatives to implement regulation with little or no basis in what we know from the field of public health and which are actually aimed at making it difficult or impossible to legally comply with those regulations. Name the regulations that are impossible to comply with. Consent laws for minors? Please. Every other hospital in the nation has consent laws. Regular doctors can't even treat a sinus infection without parental consent. What the heck. Waiting times? Right, that's an issue, because nowhere else in all of medicine can you come in and have invasive surgery performed the same day. A surgery which has incredible risks for the patient, including uterine damage, bleeding, damage to the cervix, not to mention emotional trauma. Follow up care? Oh wait, that one's not even mandated in most states. Ultrasounds? Yeah, they already have to do them, because if they don't know how far along the baby is they can't find the best way to kill it. Most of these abortuaries use the ultrasound but never show it to the woman. Also, these "impossible to follow" regulations do nothing when there is no oversight to enforce them in the first place. KnightofChrist
Right. You draw your ethics from medieval Christendom and I'm the one with a backwards ideology. You are indeed the one living in the past, denying certain humans are persons is age old ignorance. But you are most certainly welcomed to join the rest of enlightened and compassionate humanity in the 21st century once you drop the violent primitive bigotry of the pass. Humanity should be civilized, get with the program.
Papist
Yay! Back to the good old days. Good girls keep their legs closed and the whores know their place! Hopefully we can ban contraception soon. Ideally we'll get to where we were 50 years ago. Back when a woman knew how to scrub floors, keep her man's dinner warm, and shut her pretty little mouth about things that she couldn't possibly understand. You left off barefoot in the kitchen. No, I'm talking about things like regulations on door width of clinics or innumerable baseless investigations into Planned Parenthood to try to prove that the organizations is **really** using federal money to provide low-income women with abortion. Socrates
If it is a genuinely unsafe facility then it should be shut down. That's hard to know since conservatives have politicized abortion regulations to a staggering degree. Either way it's a sad story. Any facility that has the purpose of murdering babies is by definition genuinely unsafe. Right. You draw your ethics from medieval Christendom and I'm the one with a backwards ideology. Chronological progression does not equal moral advancement. After all, mass murdering ideologies such as Communism and National Socialism were seen as quite forward thinking in their day. In most places, abortion mills are less regulated than tattoo parlors.
