Iron Man 3 - Anybody Disappointed?

I didn't see the scene after the credits, but are we sure that there won't be another Iron Man movie? It seemed like it was left open by a few things I noticed toward the end.

It was actually pretty funny. It turns out that the narration that Tony is making at the beginning, is from him telling this story to Bruce. It's just some quick banter back and forth. It doesn't necessarily tease a new movie, but it certainly could tease an Iron Man + Hulk movie. Which is sorely needed since Mark Ruffalo currently doesn't have a movie of his own. Since the reaction to the Tony+Bruce bromance was so positive, I could definitely see them making one.

That would be epic. I would be really disappointed if we don't see more of Iron Man for at least a few more years...

Am I the only one who doesn't like The Incredible Hulk?

Probably not. I'm going to venture a guess that's the very reason we haven't seen him in his own movie...

I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to superheroes. I don't like superheroes in general, but if it's just that impossible (And in my mind, utterly stupid) like the Hulk is, then I don't really want to waste time on it. I also just find everything about him ridiculous, really.

I think it's just safe to say I don't like superheroes. :P

Except he had 2. The most recent one, with Ed Norton was supposed to be the pre-Avengers movie for the Hulk (and I think technically it is), but Ed Norton is a finicky actor and didn't want to reprise his role as Bruce Banner so we got Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers.

It was the worst superhero movie I've seen in a long time. Not only was the story absolute nonsense (don't talk to me about the difference between "movie canon" and "comic canon"...the Extremis story in the comics was awesome, while the version of it here was moronic and missed the entire purpose of the serum), but the entire tone of the movie was off. The preceding movies were great because they balanced the action and the suspense with the humor. With this movie, they just went full-blown comedy, complete with pelvic thrusts, a Jack Sparrow impression, and a nauseating mid movie storyline involving Tony in a trucker hat. I mean, did we REALLY need 25 minutes of Tony jive-talking with a precocious 10 year old?

It was like they took the stuff people liked about the first and second movies, along with The Avengers, and turned up the volume to please the happy meal crowd. Why explore the true emotional horrors of PTSD when you can have a scene of Tony having a nightmare, and then spend the rest of the movie putting his panic attacks into contexts involving humor? Why delve deep into the way governments and non-government agencies use fear of "terrorists" to advance their goals and acquire more power, when you can just have someone be a funny Limey drinking Budweiser with some bikini-clad coeds?

Stupid. All of the cool stuff was almost immediately subverted by an attitude that screamed "we don't take this seriously." Which is fine, if you're honest about what you're doing before you do it. But go and look at the first 2 trailers that they released for this movie. Do they look, or feel, at all like the movie you just saw?

(This is to say nothing of the fact that the "Iron Patriot" fired NOT ONE bullet, or how easy it was for Tony to "cure" Pepper at the end, or how dreadfully trite RDJ's shucking and jiving was, or how it makes Tony look non-essential when villains, Pepper Potts and others can operate the Iron Man--and Iron Patriot--suits at will, thereby nullifying the entire prototype montage from the first movie)

Well I meant Mark Ruffalo, like you were saying before. I don't like him very much as The Hulk.

I am in the minority who preferred the second. I thought it was great. Have not seen the third yet. Probably will not in the theatre. I would rather see Star Trek.

Also, bullocks to people talking about character development. What about Tony has changed from the end of the 1st movie? He's still wildly arrogant, incredibly childish, and totally self involved. Except for his love for Pepper, which hasn't changed or "evolved" in any way.

He didn't develop, grow up or improve as a person. He's just got more suits, and developed technology that makes it possible for him not to have the arc reactor in his chest to power the suits.

From what I've seen, he has become more caring for other people and their welfare than before. He also seems to be less of a narcissistic sociopath.
