Hey Everyone!!!!!

My sister graduated (again) with her MBA from Mount Saint Mary's University today!!!!! The Mount has been a home to myself, my family and Basilisa Marie for the past seven years, and while my sister may be the last family member graduating from the Mount for a while (my brother is running cxc for Hofstra next year and I hope children can wait until after medical school!), its words like those in Archbishop Lori's commencement address to my sister's graduating class that fill me with joy for being a son of Mount Saint Mary's and hope for a future with the Mount community.

Here are a few of the best lines from his commencement address today, the theme of which was how mastery of one's decisions in the moment can yield a life in harmony with Christ :D

“As Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach said, Mastery of the Moment is Mastery over Life.”

“The matter before us, for good or for evil, must be formed right now, and these decisions determine what kind of people we are becoming, men and women of virtuous character.”

“Character is built up over years, it is a composite of the decisions we make over our lives.”

“We must become dedicated to our thoughts, for they become words, and our words, for they become our deeds, and our deeds, for they become our habits, and our habits, for they become our character, which will become our destiny.”

“If you want to know who you truly are and who you truly can become, follow Jesus. If you want to know what Real virtue is, follow Jesus.”

“The Past we Entrust to God’s Mercy, the Future we Entrust to God’s Providence, and the Present we Entrust to God’s Love.”

“Consider that we ask Mary’s intercession for Now in the present moment, And at the hour of our deaths. She knew better than anyone that Mastery of the Moment is Mastery over Life.”

That was beautiful :D
