God's Beloved
Since the last especially fifty years there have emerged several New movements and communities that are open to people of all age-groups : children, youth, adults, married, single,[also religious ,clergy etc as associates]. Several of these Ecclesial movements have a core-group of Consecrated men or women who live and work in the world , either alone, with their families or in small groups without the rigid structure of convents. Every movement has its own charism. The Consecrated members of these movements don't wear a habit since theirs is not a religious life of some separation from the world. But these consecrated members sometimes do have some distinct 'style' of dressing or living which identifies them or makes their charism 'stand out' among the laity. Some of these movements and associations are really beautiful. The following web-sites could be of interest to those who are discerning. http://www.ewtn.com/library/CHISTORY/movecoms.HTM http://www.laici.va/content/laici/en/sezioni/associazioni/profilo.html http://www.laici.va/content/laici/en/sezioni/associazioni/repertorio-delle-associazioni.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directory_of_International_Associations_of_the_Faithful Some of these movements are Diocesan and others are National and Inter-national. Hope some details can be shared by readers who know Consecrated members of these Ecclesial movements personally.
God's Beloved
Most of the consecrated members have a period of formation sometimes longer than the mandatory 9 yrs for religious life. They usually take private vows [evangelical counsels] while their association or movement itself has Church approval of Statutes etc . The International movements are under the guidance of the Pontifical council for the Laity for practical purposes.
